I sort of see your point but choosing to drop out of school to support a baby who you don't even know is yours is foolish. I don't think anyone is forcing dreams on him. I simply think they want him to get the bare minimum that will at least guarantee him a job. They want him to do it because he has the ability to, not because he's smart. They want him to live up to his potential, so he doesn't have to struggle his whole life like they have to because they didn't live up to their potential. I don't think that's forcing any dream on him. After he graduates high school, he can choose to not pursue college, but I don't think requiring him to graduate school is forcing any dreams on him. Lip's character thinks they're forcing him to do something he doesn't want to because he's smart and all smart people should go to college or whatever but really, Fiona wants him to have a better life than she does is what I think.

2019-12-02 06:36:03 +0000 UTCmy issue and what annoys me, is how people are forcing their dreams on Lip. The problem is that everyone kind of gave up on their dreams and failed in school, etc, so with Lip being so smart and getting good grades, everyone is sort of using him as an escape? Like they're saying 'if you do good, everyone else can be amazing' or 'you're going to harvard/yale' or basically saying he NEEDS to get those jobs and go to those schools JUST cause he's smart. And that frustrates me, cause just because you're good at something doesn't mean you need to do it. It's like those parents who force their kids to play football just cause they're good at it. They're using him as the golden egg, like he said. Almost like an example. Kevin literally said 'you're the only smart kid in this town and if you get out then my kids can see that they can too', which is true but that's a lot of pressure. I feel Lip's side cause everyone's forcing their own wants and beliefs and putting pressure on him. But, that being said, i'm not mad at Fiona, she's the mother figure and i can see her pov very much. But i don't hate Lip, he has a right to pick his own dreams...but he should graduate lol.
