Hey folks my apologies for the lack of updates since getting back. It's mostly just been boring behind the scenes stuff. But I wanted to take a moment to recap what's been going on over the past week.
To start we did the 3D model for Cascade's head, and purchased a new 3D printer, the Neptune 4 Max. This printer was somewhat rushed to market so it comes with a lot of firmware bugs, we knew that getting into this so we weren't surprised, but it's still been an ongoing headache as we work to get the printer up and running. In the process of trying to diagnose the issues with printer we'd begun tuning it, and by we I mean my programmer friend. I understand the hardware side but am lost outside of simple tasks like creating a working profile. As such his knowledge has been indispensible as we work through the issues one step at a time. It's resulted in a lot a variation in our test prints as we try to pinpoint what's causing the issues and how to address them. But the end is in sight as not only are prints are coming out cleaner, we're getting a handle on why certain actions are yielding certain results. Though there are some issues that are just firmware bugs that we have no way of fixing on our own. Needless to say if you're interested in getting a 3D printer avoid the Neptune series 4 unless you handy, have some one handy and ar every patient.
Aside from the printer, we're still waiting for the replacement DTD from Zion so we can make his bodysuit, and with any luck that will arrive sometime in the next few days and we can start posting updates more frequently.
Regarding this month's Patreon Tutorial I want to revisit the digitigrade bodysuit tutorial that I'd started working on in the past. However a bodysuit is such a massive undertaking I'm going to be dividing it into multiple parts. The first part which I aim to release by the end of the month will go over how to create the physical shape of the digitigrade leg, including foam carving. The second part will go over how to actually turn that into a usable pattern to make your bodysuit. I may break it into three parts with the third and final part going over lining and creating removable padding, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. In the meantime that's all for now, but stay tuned for more!
