2019-09-26 05:52:00 +0000 UTCAmons henchman use technology from Asamis dad to counter the metalbenders so that may be a reason Lin struggled against the Lieutenant but I understand why you might think the baddies go stupid every once in awhile but for instance with the mecha tanks they struggled at first but then adapted and used different techniques to take them out, and on airbender island They weren't just any kids they are Aang and kataras grandchildren, and mako could lightning bend that's why he was able to withstand the charge and redirect it.
