I agree 100% with the pressure put on Jules. Although, I do think she cares for Rue in a romantic sense. It's just that their romantic relationship started not only in such a weird place but also that she feels essentially responsible for anything that Rue might end up doing. It's just a lot more complicated than I think either of them would like, especially at such a young age.

2019-08-10 20:05:19 +0000 UTCI think Jules cares very much for Rue (albeit not necessarily in a romantic sense) but people keep telling her how Rue is doing so much better because of her, which is a massive amount of pressure to put on one person. When Rue asked if she could stay over at her house, for example - if she says no, is Rue going to be at a loose end, unable to sleep and decide to go find some drugs? It is stifling, and we can see that Jules is such a free-spirit. Rue is my favourite character, but I really do feel for Jules.
