i remember in shadowhunters people were gloating about how amazing magnus was, so i don't really think it's a huge deal cause you weren't very upset then when people said that. I also think it just depends on character taste. You sometimes don't adore very popular characters, so maybe you might not adore Mickey as much as everyone haha. I know some people who don't love him. Hell, he's not my favorite character. Technically I think everyone has good character development. It is a show after all, and this is a grounded show, so the characters are the plots, unlike supernatural shows. They're what keep the story going. I do wish people didn't hype him up as soon as he was on an episode, though....but you also said you saw stuff on twitter so it may have been spoiled anyways that he's a popular character :/ i can't stand Karen at all, but the scene at the end of the episode was bittersweet. I love Sheila's love for her daughter, but Karen doesn't deserve her tbh...

Difference was, nobody had spoiled for me what a popular character he was so it was like "Oh fuck, I'm actually starting to like that guy... is that allowed?" lol. Kinda sucks you couldn't have that surprise, but as spoilers go it's pretty minor I guess.
