Joe....I am going to clarify this for you so you can stop obsessing over how Shadowhunters aren't hurt enough.....lol. Shadowhunters are supernatural beings who don't get hurt like a normal human. It takes a whole lot to hurt them. Having said that, they also begin healing right away. The iratze rune just does it instantly. Luke is taking the fall, so the mundanes don't look any deeper into what happened. He thinks he is keeping them from finding out about the shadow world, and punishing himself at the same time. I do hate the bleeding heart crap they have a character do ( not that I want all the bad people killed ) but Maia is completely right!!!
