I think it's always great when the show goes to the basics of what makes these characters who they are. I think it's what made this episode more enjoyable. Because you have all this snooping and A stuff and following Mike and whatever else and whenever they do that it's kinda like... eh you know? But then you have episodes like this, where we see Spencer and the sort of closed off person she is, and it's always endearing when we can see her open up a bit. And Hanna and her desire to be something and make people, including herself, proud. It's just very much in line with who they are when we meet them in season 1 and we see what they want for themselves. I think that's when the show's best, and I always love to see them flex their acting skills, especially Ashley and Troian (and Tyler who plays Caleb but we're not talking about him right now) because they're especially great at it. Side note, without any spoilers there's a scene way later where Ashely Troain and Tyler are all acting their asses off at the same time and I think about it a lot.
