It's not heavily implied it went down this way after this episode, cause nothing is said about the mom and there is many other possibilities. You're kind of spoiling a future episode...

2019-01-11 11:11:56 +0000 UTCI think it's okay to say this, since it was heavily implied in the episode itself, but I'm fairly sure that Zuko's mom helped kill the grandfather in order to save Zuko's life, since the grandfather wanted Ozai to kill Zuko, and then disappeared as a result of whatever happened. What exactly happened or her involvement tho, at this point is not known.

2019-01-09 17:09:54 +0000 UTCIt's quite understandable why the village immediately turned on Zuko, a firebender and the Prince of the Fire Nation. The village has suffered so much from the war, and now the family has lost their son as well. Their lost and hatred are much more personal now. I love the show's decision of having the entire village turned on Zuko, even though they hated the thuggish soldiers as well. It's very human reaction.

Considering all he went through between Mom disappearing his grandfather want to sacrifice him and his father’s stress and pressure is it any wonder he turned this way. Same goes for Azula just to a different extent this was already bratty and selfish but, being her controlling father’s favorite made her even more crazy. Also this episode is framed like a western.
