Awesome! Looking forward to these reactions since I love this show, though yeah the first season is the weakest, but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing, since it's not like season one is bad. It's more like the show was just getting it's footing and building the groundwork for all the greatness to come haha

When Joe commented on how Buffy already knew about being the Slayer and vampires etc. Her learning about this stuff happened in the pilot movie that isn't as good as the show.

Yes this show does have an old school feel to it but, many modern days also how have an old fashioned feel to them. So even take place in different time periods. I think old school media (shows, movies, etc.) can sometimes be better than the modern day ones.

Yeah season 1 feels very old. They later seasons from the early 2000s arent too bad but that's probably because I have seen it so much. I really love this show. My favourite of all time. I think by the time season 2 is done you will love the show. I am very excited to have a long show to invest in on your channel, I don't watch PLLs (watching it once was enough lol).

Buffy is typically a nickname for Elizabeth in the same way Muffy is for Margret. It's supposed to play into a sort of upperclass ditzy stereotype that was very much of the 90s. Think Clueless. For the show it's meant to work with the idea of subverting your expectations. Whedon has said the idea for the character came from watching things where a blonde girl walks down an alley and gets attacked. He thought is would be cool to see the girl turn around and kick ass. The main difference with the unaired pilot is that one of the main cast was played by a different actor who was recast, some small changes to the first ep, the sets are different - mainly the library looks totally different and the final fight is in the school auditorium. I usually recommend watching it and the original Buffy movie between season 1 and 2 if you want, but both are easily skippable.

His opinion on many characters will change as he goes along and if re-watches the show after completing it he may end liking some episodes then he did before. Also that there are still people who haven't seen many old amazing shows like Buffy yet.

So glad you're committing to this til the end of Season 2! Season 1 is fun, but 2 is where the show really finds itself - I really think you'll love it by then. Julie Benz played Darla (the blonde vampire), not sure if you got that by the end, and Willow's actress was in the American Pie movies and How I Met Your Mother. The show is full of likeable characters and great villains, so you don't need to worry :) It just needs a little patience in the beginning.

Yes Buffy one of the most influential shows out there! So many shows copy from it or get ideas from it both fantasy and non-fantasy shows. It even created names for well known tropes.
