i love this episode. as a kid, it really stuck with me a lot. i also love that they show sokka being protective of katara. it reminds you that they're siblings. so they're there for each other first. Aang hasn't earthbended at all. You have to learn it in order (like jeong jeong said). So Aang has to learn waterbending first, then earthbending and then firebending. Which is why the seasons/books are in that order. That's also why he was failing a lot. There's an order for a reason.
