The Legend Of Korra S4 Ep 13 Reaction Edited

And with that, Korra has come to a close, and what a beautiful ending it was. Loved seeing how far Korra has come through all this, especially by comparing her with Kuvira, but it's safe to say her legacy has been world-shaping!

Thanks for confirming this 😅 That ending shot between the two of them finally made me realise what was happening and thinking back I am starting to remember just how much alone time these two spent together, the most obvious thing I mist that I now realise was Korra sending letters to only Asami right at the start of the season 😂 I’m so happy to hear you got so much out of these videos 😁 It always impresses me how much something like this can achieve and I already know I probably missed a lot of things from only watching it once, I’m already quit excited to rewatch it at some point and see what else I can pick up! And I absolutely agree, the way this show deals with psychological trauma has been amazing, they put so much care in how they presented it and while it wasn’t perfect it really was great at taking this very serious theme and delivering it to a young audience. After knowing everything this show went through in development, it really is a testament to the creators that they were able to pull off such a great story. Love how you’ve put all this! Korra’s final scene with Tenzin is such an amazing life lesson in general and it really does sum up the journey of her character well. I really enjoy scenes like this which are quieter and calmer and simply are to express the result of a character and it really brings Korra full circle to even recognize how much she’s grown herself. There are so many similarities between Korra and Zuko and both shows do such a good show in their own right with their arc which I think is the best way to look at it, as comparing any show with ATLA just feels like an uphill battle 😂😂 This conclusion really cemented her hero’s journey where she isn’t out to be the Avatar simply because she has the power, but because she understands what it’s like to suffer so she will do everything within her power to help the world.

Are they a thing? I can, at length, finally say yes, they are a thing. I’m a bit embarrassed that I didn’t pick up on the clues that had been in front of my face, on first viewing, all along. But it was a growth moment for me to understand that while I can spot relationship potential between two guys from a light year away, I was as blind as an Alabama Evangelical to the very clear moments between Korra and Asami going back to season 2. Your review/reactions are always worthwhile. Here, among other things, you’ve got me thinking about how I spend my time. I’ve seen the Korra series three times (four now along with you) and my felt experience with the show has really grown, as has, on the whole, my admiration for it. To be brief (for a change) I feel how they presented psychological trauma was incredible. It’s not perfect, and would maybe benefit from being a bit more explicit. But they gave us a kids cartoon with enough trust in the audience and in themselves to show the potentially terrible consequences of violence on the individual. A psychological wound as debilitating as any physical harm, and something that takes a great deal of time and effort to begin to heal from. Particularly when considered in the messy, troubled context in which the show was made and released, they deserve great respect for this accomplishment. Similarly, though much more personally, Korra’s last conversation with Tenzin really hits home for me. It took me a few viewings of the series to really feel the power of what Korra said about compassion. But I think (or hope, I guess) this is fairly typical. The first time we watch anything, there will always be things we miss. Sometimes, there’s so much happening that we don’t focus on the quieter moments. Some shows, it has to be said, don’t really have any layers to begin with. And sometimes, we’re not ready to see or understand what they are trying to convey. In any case, that last exchange with Tenzin is the touchstone of Korra’s story. The show always suffers when compared to ATLA, but both Zuko and Korra have powerful, subtle, and beautiful character arcs that make repeated viewings highly rewarding and, at least for me, worth my time. This was always true, but all the more so now. My country today is run by people not only bereft of compassion, but who actively sneer at it. They have immense power unchecked by empathy…the very thing that makes this world bearable. This show is remarkable for telling a story that illustrates why sympathy, mutuality, and compassion aren’t expressions of weakness, as many insist. But rather, they are arrived at and sustained only by inner strength, sometimes of a truly heroic stature. This is the best of who we are. Another series put to bed. Well done.
