2018-08-11 00:43:21 +0000 UTCI have to be real, as someone who is lesbian, I hated how Martin blackmailed Simon. It can really mess with a person. However, I do not hate him and Abby. I actually think Abby was always a bit rude to him. Cause even before he was a little pushy, she just kind of judged him from first glance. Everyone kind of judges him for being quirky and 'nerdy' but the diner scene where he was genuinely interested in her life and wanted to get to know her was sweet in my mind. Pushy? Yes, but sweet because he pushed her to talk and open up. He's just too blunt sometimes. The diner scene was one of my favorite parts in the movie. Idk, i found it adorable. But when he outed Simon, I got pissed. "Thank you for swearing" literally me in that scene. In the books, Leah isn't in love with Simon. So tbh, I thought she was in love with Abby lol. I cried three times in this movie. I'm glad the kiss wasn't a little peck, we got a full-on romantic kiss. It was lovely. In the book, it was private and they were alone at the amusement park, but for the movie they wanted a grand, cliche finale and I'm 100% fine with that. We gays need our cliche movie moments. And I agree, his friends weren't the best. It was clear that he hated himself for what he did with their relationships. He wasn't being selfish, I feel like he cared more about losing blue than being outed as gay. If I was them and my friend was outed, I'd care more about how he felt than what he did to me. Cause I knew there was a reason behind it. They never even noticed how different he was acting...if they were friends, you could tell there was something off. And they literally just stopped talking to him after all of that. Like you said, they were not there for him AT ALL. And something like that can drive someone to suicide...
