7 Blades of Legend Monsters: Gnomes

In my universe of the 7 Blades of Legend, there are many creatures in the north you should be knowledgeable of before traveling.
One of these many magical creatures are gnomes.

Gnomes range from 3 ~ 4 inches in height. They are nocturnal creatures which burrow underground or pile in hollow trees during the day.
They are mainly a nuisance for those who live near forests, large fields, or countryside. They are not very bright, but are quite crafty creatures. Gnomes will build elaborate traps in the woods to catch prey or kill predators. Common prey for gnomes include small mammals, birds, and insects. On rare occasions they have been known to attack infants and children. These magical beings do not eat nor digest food, but instead devour prey to absorb the blood of their victims.

In order to reproduce, gnomes will find any manner of wood they feel is just right and take it back to their layer. At which point, they will gnaw and scratch away at the wood until it is whittled to resemble them. Once this process is complete, the wooden sculpture is buried for weeks. Then upon a moonlight night, a newborn gnome will crawl from the soil and instinctively locate its pack. How these newborn gnomes are capable of locating the pack that created it is unclear. It is said the blood from their prey is transferred into the wood in the sculpting process. Some scholars believe this is the moment life is planted into the block of wood.

Gnomes are relatively easy to kill and are not more than a pesky annoyance. Common blunt or sharp objects can crush them. They are especially susceptible to fire and day light.
