2018-12-29 15:07:10 +0000 UTCA PS to the comment above: I can recall a few times when Lana has had sex apparently for fun, like with the pool boy in "The Hero Position" or the guy on the boat in "Tricks of the Trade" (though that could be seen as paying for the boat, but she stayed longer than she had to), so not all her sex is entirely about work.

One, of course, is the absurdity of two naked women, both of whom, seconds earlier, were fighting over who was going to give the guy a blowjob, now congratulating him on his engagement and flattering his fiancee over her ring. The other is the point that the guy himself, through his actions, is clearly an incredible jerk who does not at all make his fiancee "lucky". So, much of the humor hinges on the spies themselves being so oblivious to real human relationships -i.e, they are so used to seeing sex as entirely transactional - that they don't/can't appreciate the irony of what they are saying and doing. Not to overthink things for a strip that is clearly just meant to be a sex farce/comedy, but that does raise a couple of questions for me. One is to point out the contradiction here with what is going on in "Agent Provocateur", where Lana is depending on the anger of the BoHo leader's girlfriend to make the blackmail plan work. The other question is this: in all of the Lana books and strips, I can only recall her going out on a date just once, in "The Big Hookup". In all of her other appearances, her sex is entirely transactional -which makes some sense, given the strip is about her job. Does Lana have a private life?
