He knocks on the door, and when the beautiful farmer's daughter answers, he thinks he's really lucked out. He asks to stay the night, and the daughter tells him he'll have to ask her father, who has just come to the door. The farmer says," Sure, but you'll have to sleep in the barn with the horses." The salesman's jaw drops, and he says,"Damn, I'm in the wrong joke!"
