One of my favorite movies of all time. My favorite scene is when Solomon is in london and sees the jewelry store with the diamond necklace on display. I couldn't imagine the surreal feeling that for the first time he sees the end result of all the pain that he and his family have had to endure. He may have never seen what a finished diamond looks like. It is such a well done and underrated scene.

I first saw this many years ago and like you, it also made me start to realize the reality of conflict diamonds and what has happened in Sierra Leone. It made me become sensitive moving forward to products/resources that may have come from areas of the world that are in conflict ie. unregulated, illegal, exploitation is present, etc

We have given you to this point, among others: -Gladiator -Pursuit of Happyness -Good Will Hunting -Catch Me If You Can -The Last Samurai -Ex Machina -Pan’s Labyrinth -Armageddon -Independence Day -Blood Diamond Some good movies in there. As I noted previously, I like the variety which we are providing that way. 🙂

2024-07-08 00:39:46 +0000 UTCI hope that you liked it! I think that Blood Diamond is a really well made movie. Was one of my favorites when I first saw it when it came out. Really good script. Great performances. Amazing music and lots of great scenes. Pretty accurate overall it seems, as well. So that you know, as well, the director of Blood Diamond, Edward Zwick, is the same director of The Last Samurai, which you watched back in January, or so. Trying to give you a nice variety of good movies, as well. I had endorsed Armageddon and Independence Day as two which I was confident you would like, just as I had endorsed Blood Diamond.
