Yep. I think they were getting their feet under them in 2008 with this one and Ironman. Only a handful of years before was the "origin" Hulk movie (yet another recast) but this one came out right when they were starting to build out the MCU. They maybe didn't want to step on the previous versions metaphorical toes.

I think it's a mix of 2 things.
I read somewhere that this early in the MCU they maybe wanted to bring Abomination back at some point.
The other thing is likely a Killer vs. Murderer difference for Betty. She saw him likely kill soldiers in self defense and the aftermath when he changed back, but hadn't seen him murder in cold blood. She probably felt deep down that it's not him.

There was an earlier Hulk movie before this but it was before the MCU plan was really together. So that’s more of the origin story but with a different cast. They basically quickly try to retell a version of it at the beginning of this movie with their new cast. Funnily enough, the Hulk is recast again. He will be the actor Mark Ruffalo, next seen in the Avengers. It’s just a continuation of this story, although they don’t really tie much into this movie, except General Ross and Tony Stark

I don't think it was a "no need to kill him" situation. I think it was more of Betty knowing Bruce's true nature and not wanting him to regret killing someone, no matter how evil they are. Basically preserving Bruce's humanity.

The movie has subtle nods to the TV show that was popular many years ago, starring Bill Bixby as Banner, but instead showing him on the tube in his OTHER TV show, "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". Lou Ferrigno makes an appearance as the security guard that Banner bribes with yummy pizza. The purple stretchy pants is a nod to the comic book where the Hulk always wore purple pants.

I think so, too. The Abomination was a murderous creature who enjoyed killing people. Fortunately, the movie doesn't show any closeup shots but initially before the Hulk appeared in the street, the Abomination was swatting people around like so many flies and a single blow like that would kill a person.

I think that she told Hulk to stop because Abomination was defeated, no need to kill him. I don't think she wanted to see him kill.

I have actually never seen this movie, but of the movies which I have seen which you have been watching, I think that you get a lot of good recommendations on here with a lot of variety, which is great! You have an awesome channel here and it is really growing in content. I have recommended it to two others now.
As for The Patriot, I think that you will like it. I am actually pretty sure that you will. It isn’t very accurate, historically, but it is well made and entertaining.
From that previous list, if you slip in Blood Diamond, I am really pretty confident that it is a movie which you will like and connect with, for sure!
