Patreon Pick Discussion for March
Added 2024-02-29 23:32:06 +0000 UTCHey Everyone,
Havits here, Stef is going to be out of town until the 5th but when she comes back she will be completing Pan's Labyrynth for Patreon Picks. Which means it's time to pick our next films for the month of March.
Films in the last poll that just missed the cut:
- Master and Commander
- Parasite
Films I'd like to see her watch :
(since she's a big fan of 10 things I hate of you, and heath ledger )
- The Patriot
- A Knight's Tale
lemme know what you guys think in the comments. Drop the movies you'd like to have her watch next. The most suggested films will make the poll and we'll see if we pick another 3-4 movies for march. This discussion will be open to all patrons, but only tiers 2 and up will be allowed to vote and watch the content. Welcome to all new subscribers. Poll will go up in a few days.

I personally like the original Blade Runner infinitely better than the new one 2049.

2024-04-24 00:40:42 +0000 UTCI think she would really like BrokeBack Mountain.. Ledger gives an outstanding performance.. It's real, it's raw and sheds a light on how ridiculous the stereotypes can be.. Definitely opened my mind to see things in a different way.

2024-03-04 16:34:11 +0000 UTCI remember seeing Kingdom of Heaven at the theatre and being less than thrilled. When I saw the Director's Cut it was like a different movie and I loved it.

2024-03-03 19:59:06 +0000 UTCI will emphasize again that if she watches Kingdom of Heaven, the Directors Cut is the only way to go. The theatrical release was a complete disaster.

2024-03-03 19:24:07 +0000 UTCI would offer Finest Hours, Hachi (it might be hard for her), The King with Timothee Chalomet (sp?), Kingdom of Heaven Directors cut, November Man.

2024-03-03 19:21:42 +0000 UTCAre others still onboard with Blood Diamond as a suggestion? Make what you will of the political message, but regardless of how you feel on that, it is a very good movie and would be a great choice for this.

2024-03-03 14:44:45 +0000 UTCThe Passion of the Christ would be a good one with Easter coming up.

2024-03-02 17:25:37 +0000 UTCI agree. If she liked The Last Samarai, then I think she will like Dances with Wolves. I saw a lot of things that were similar between the two movies, like the diary, for example.

2024-03-02 15:38:33 +0000 UTCAnother good dog movie is My Dog Skip. The 1995 dog adventure film Napoleon is a classic, as well and she would really enjoy it, I am pretty sure. As a kid I really liked the animated Balto movie, as well. The Benji movies were pretty good too.

2024-03-02 13:40:22 +0000 UTCI would be surprised if she has never seen Titanic (1997). I think that she would probably like Dances With Wolves.

2024-03-01 15:31:45 +0000 UTCThere are really far too many to list, tbh, so I am trying to just stick to movies which others have recommended, as well. Putting aside the Master and Commander recommendation, which is just an extraordinary movie, I really like the Blood Diamond recommendation a lot. It is both a serious story, but also a movie which I think is great for this. It was one of my absolute favorite movies when it came out. I was thirteen at the time and bought it on DVD back then. Watched it again not that long ago for the first time in many years and it would be an excellent choice. It has an over 90% audience score on RT, just so that she knows, as well. So, I am going to go with Blood Diamond.

2024-03-01 13:33:44 +0000 UTCMaster and Commander is a superlative film; definitely one to watch and hugely superior in terms of historical accuracy compared to The Patriot - so long as Stef can "understand" some of the history of the period concerned herself. Then again, A Knight's Tale is a terrific romp that I'm sure would bring a smile to her face.

2024-03-01 07:36:41 +0000 UTCSorry, have not checked the list of movies she has seen today so I might have a duplicate. Robin Hood with Russel Crowe, The King with Timothee Chalamet, Fines Hours with Chris Pine or The Birdcage with Robin Williams.

2024-03-01 05:46:55 +0000 UTCI think both Patriot & Knight's Tale are great choices. A couple more I think she'd like: - Sicario (2015) - In Time (2011) - The Fifth Element (1997)

2024-03-01 01:03:48 +0000 UTCMaster and Commander is extraordinary. It is infinitely superior to The Patriot. I wouldn’t put them in the same class at all. It can certainly be said that The Patriot does have some really good scenes and it tells the story which it is telling pretty well though. That much is certainly true. A Knights Tale she would probably like. It is an extremely silly comedy from what I remember. Two lighthearted comedies which I would recommend/remember fondly would be Mr. Deeds and Fifty First Dates. Speaking of comedies, You Can’t Take It With You (1938) is really good. It won Best Picture for that year and it is charming and funny. I bet that she would like it.

2024-03-01 00:07:41 +0000 UTCFor me, I would not really recommend The Patriot simply based on its really flagrant historical inaccuracy. If she would like to watch a movie set during the American Revolution, I would recommend The Crossing, which is definitely the best of them. Haven’t seen A Knight’s Tale since I was very young. Master and Commander is one of my all-time favorite movies. It is absolutely brilliant! Of films which I have seen recommended, I have a very good feeling about Blood Diamond! I think that that would be a great pick for her. I would endorse it as being great for this and think that it would be a great choice! I have a great feeling about Lion, as well, which is just a brilliant movie and extremely accurate and faithful to his story. Of others which have received multiple recommendations from other users which I can think of off of the top of my head, I would endorse The Last of the Mohicans, Schindler’s List, The Pianist, The Killing Fields, Apocalypto and Dances With Wolves. Amadeus has been recommended, as well. If she watches Amadeus, she should really watch the Directors Cut, which is the superior version. Blade Runner has been recommended. The trouble with Blade Runner is that one really should watch both the original theatrical cut and the final cut to get the full picture and make their determinations. When you see it, you will understand why. Great movie. I personally didn’t really like the new one, Blade Runner 2049, very much.
