Next Patreon Picks and Updates.
Added 2024-01-12 12:06:08 +0000 UTCHey Everyone Havits here, It's that time again to get your suggestions for the next patreon picked films. Drop what movies you want stef to watch next. I will also check previous posts to determine the most popular picks and take repeat films that haven't been watched into consideration.
There's been a couple questions that I want to answer here. Patreon Picks can be voted on by everyone, the $10 tier gets access as soon as stef watches is, the $6 dollar tier gets it when the movie drops on youtube. I understand that Stef has been busy and she is making an effort to get more films that you guys get to watch first.
We want to make everyone that supports the channel happy, and we are taking into consideration if the way we put out Patreon Picks needs to be moved around to make it fair for the $6 dollar tier who seems to have to wait quite a bit of time for access. I will be discussing this with Stef, since we are going to be adding two new series for Patreon.
Additionally, The Star Wars Clone Wars Series will be a Patreon exclusive that is $6 and up perk, these will not go to youtube since the editing will take a lot of time and the series is pretty old now. This will free up some more time so Stef can just crank these out multiple episodes at a time and we can just get them up for you guys.
Game of Thrones Will be an early access perk for Patreon's $10 tier. We are going to upload multiple episodes on here before they drop on youtube so that our Early Access Patrons are ahead of the game as a thank you.
That's everything for now, again if you have any questions you can DM (.havits ) on Discord. I'm always more than happy to listen to suggestions. Stef is working hard to get her new schedule in LA figured out to get back to streaming and making content consistently. In the mean time, Let's hear your Patreon Picks!

2024-01-16 14:02:24 +0000 UTCThe website Movie Censorship has breakdowns of the differences in cuts between movies. Here is the breakdown for Gladiator between the Theatrical and the Extended Cut. A couple of the scenes improve the movie, I think, but I think that a few of them don’t really and are unnecessary. Again, though, it is not a tremendous difference between the two cuts. https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=2462 I don’t watch that many movies these days, especially new ones, but it is fun to go back to movies which were really good sometimes.

2024-01-15 12:49:49 +0000 UTCIt is not a blockbuster but Finest Hours might be a decent one perhaps? It is a true story that is still hard to believe. A Chris Pine movie.

2024-01-15 07:11:48 +0000 UTCCan only watch one movie at a time, but I suspect that she would probably like Hidalgo and Master and Commander is just brilliant. Wind River has been mentioned by people as being really good before, but I have personally never seen it. Another recommendation/thought which I had was In Bruges. She would never have seen anything quite like it before and it has some really great lines in it. Well written, well acted and entertaining. That would be very interesting. Don’t just take it from me though, I went on Rotten Tomatoes after thinking of it as a suggestion and saw an article in which the actress Anna Kendrick listed it as one of her five favorite movies: https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/anna-kendricks-five-favorite-films/ Just trying to provide some suggestions. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was mentioned above. That is a really touching movie, as well.

2024-01-14 14:43:47 +0000 UTCMan on Fire is one of my favorite movies though The Accountant is close. Some ideas from my list of rewatches: (sorry if I show things she has seen, have not checked the list in a bit) October Sky, Taken, Hidalgo (++), The Prince (violent but..), The Proposal, A league of their own, The hunters prayer, not sure on this one but I love it, The legend of bagger vance, Wind River and Master and Commander.

2024-01-14 12:33:19 +0000 UTCShe appears to have reacted to The Shining and she has seen and reacted to Gladiator. Another reference to Pan’s Labyrinth, I see. That would be a great choice. Apocalypto is really good and is brilliantly made. I would just warn her that she will probably find it to be difficult and upsetting at times. Some good suggestions being made by you guys here.

2024-01-12 22:30:42 +0000 UTC"The Shape of Water" (2017) An unconventional love story from director Guillermo del Toro. "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008) from director David Fincher.

2024-01-12 19:23:41 +0000 UTCI don’t know about that. I just saw a lot of movies when I was younger. What do you think that she would think of Days of Heaven? Or, The Piano? It would be interesting to see what she thought of The New World, as well (don’t know what she would think of it). I first saw it in theaters as a teenager in 2005 when it came out. The Extended Version is Terrence Malick’s (the Director) preferred cut. It is forty minutes longer, but fleshes out the relationships in some more depth. I would say that it is the superior cut overall, but it doesn’t make an enormous narrative difference. The additional scenes in England are particularly good, but there is nothing wrong with watching the theatrical cut. For a beautiful movie, with an element of romance, she also may like a movie called The Age of Adaline.

2024-01-12 17:03:53 +0000 UTCHello everyone. How about some classics? They will definitely be Stef. have fun. Here's a small selection: "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962), "The Flight of the Phoenix" (1965), "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976), "Taste of Fear" (1961) for now... :)

2024-01-12 16:45:39 +0000 UTCI am working at the moment, but saw this comment and figured that I would respond quickly in that she has seen the full (fifteen minute longer) version of Gladiator. Much of what was cut for the theatrical release wasn’t essential, but I am glad that she watched the full version because the scene with Commodus in the basement in which he attacks the marble bust of his father was cut from the theatrical cut and that is a great and powerful scene, I think and the movie is better with that scene in it. It provides even more depth to Commodus’ character. She posted an outstanding reaction to it on here which is definitely worth checking out. I also think that she will probably like Dances With Wolves. It is long, but it is a classic. It won the Academy Award for the best movie of 1990, after all. Regarding The Last King of Scotland (which, of course, but so that she also knows in case she didn’t, is not about any actual King of Scotland), yeah, it would be interesting to see her reaction.

2024-01-12 16:31:56 +0000 UTCAll excellent suggestions. Dances With Wolves. She would really enjoy. The last king of Scotland probably 50/50. Gladiator and hacksaw Ridge I don't know about, might be too bloody. Back to the Future franchise goes downhillon during the second movie. I'm a rookie here so I have to ask has she seen much from Nicolas Cage. Or Denzel Washington , big group of movies they made, she would really like. I second" Dances with Wolves" ,for right now. can't lose with that movie. But I'm not a tier that gets a vote. Just agreeing with some. ✌️😎👍

2024-01-12 16:12:02 +0000 UTCFor animated films, how about Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies (gut-wrenching without actually condemning the Allied bombing campaign), Only Yesterday or The Tale of the Princess Kaguya? Those are the ones which I have seen which I thought were good and come to mind.

2024-01-12 16:03:40 +0000 UTCLion is also a great suggestion! I would definitely agree with David there. I suggested it in a post on the other thread, as well. Very faithful to his story and really powerful. The Last of the Mohicans and Gran Torino are both good too.

2024-01-12 14:49:14 +0000 UTCKind of bouncing off Nathan Townes list above, the movies that jump off the screen at me as excellent suggestions: Dances With Wolves Schindler's List Pan's Labyrinth Any of those would be excellent, but also to those I would add personal top picks: Lion The Last of the Mohicans Gran Torino

2024-01-12 13:21:57 +0000 UTCI suggested Monster (2003) in the other thread. That would be a great choice (would give Stef a lot to digest-it is not about a supernatural monster). A couple of scenes in it are a little bit weak, but it is still really good and I would love to see her reaction and hear her thoughts that way. Some speculation involved, but definitely a must-see. There aren’t many reactions to it out there. The Last King of Scotland (2006), would be another which is definitely worth seeing. Animal Kingdom (2010) is another. Of films which have been recommended/referenced by others in other posts which I would personally second as being definitely worth seeing and would be cool to get reactions for. -Pan’s Labyrinth -Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World -Blood Diamond -The Killing Fields -The Pianist -The Piano -Schindler’s List -Hotel Rwanda (there is a movie called Shooting Dogs, also known as Beyond the Gates, which is every bit as good, as well). -Ex Machina -Silence of the Lambs -Letters From Iwo Jima -Dances With Wolves Kingdom of Heaven has also been suggested. Ridley Scott, the director, also directed Gladiator, along with many other films. If you do watch it, it is imperative that you watch the full Extended Version, as the studio meddled badly with the original release for runtime and pacing reasons and made it virtually incomprehensible. The Extended Version is the definitive cut of the movie. What you then think of the film will be left to you. You should make up your own mind that way (it is controversial that way, I would say), but that is really the only viable way to watch it and is Scott’s preferred/intended cut. The Last Samurai has been suggested by people, as well. It is pretty good. You would probably like it. For two lighter movies, National Treasure and Little Miss Sunshine are films that I think that Stef would probably enjoy.
