The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Full Watch-Along

Dwarves and elves didnt always hate each other, theres even some great lore about the old war where one of the larger dragons was destroying the entire army of men, elves and dwarves with fire but some of the dwarves in their full plate including helms with armored masks were able to withstand it and held (even wounded) the dragon long enough for the rest to escape.

I fell for both Elvish and Dwarvish to the point that I created fan art of what I considered to be Dwarven life safely within Tolkien Canon and existing fan art.

Now that the cat is out of the bag in terms of Sauron. In regards to your question on what the necromancer is, it was an alias Sauron used to keep his identity a secret during his growth in Dol Guldur. Necromancer is a person who performs necromancy (magic to raise the dead). Which refers to him raising the Nine from their tombs (which you saw).

It is so fun to see you learn more and go deeper into the rabbit hole with these movies :) and considering how many places, names, races and creatures you get thrown at I think you are doing very well. Not everyone dislike the dwarfs but they are considered to be secretive, stubborn, their greed for gold and treasure is what most beings dislike. On the other hand they are very loyal if someone manages to befriend them, extremely skillful smiths, builders, prospectors and they are tough, tougher than the other races. Why specifically there is bad feelings, even hatred, between the Elves and Dwarfs goes back to the world creation and deep lore. The Creator of the world meant Elves to be the first beings in his world, but one of the gods, Aulë was impatient and wanted pupils to whom he could share his knowledge and wisdom so he created the Dwarfs, and because there was lot of bad things happening he made them tough and unyielding. The Creator learned what Aulë had done and confronted him, after all only the Creator has the vision of what the world must or could be. Aulë assumed that he must undo his work and destroy the Dwarfs but the Creator saw how Aulë cared for the Dwarfs and so they were spared. Both Dwarfs and Elves are the Creators children but because the Dwarfs were never in the scope of His original vision he declared that there will always be strife between Elves and Dwarfs. The Dwarfs were put to sleep until the Elves awoke and only then they were allowed to awaken. Many killings and other atrocities were committed by both sides and there were no love between them. The Elves aren't always so good either, they can act snobbish and give better than everyone else vibes a tad too often, pride is sometimes their sin. Elves really don't need a reason to kill Orcs, there is a hatred there that will never go out. Orcs were once Elves, but Morgoth, who is a god was jealous of the work of other gods and sought to destroy and corrupt them. Morgoth in the beginning was the strongest of the gods, second only to the Creator himself. There is a famous sentence: "Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made" and this is how and why evil exists in the world and its all Morgoth's work, Sauron is only a servant to him. I don't want to give too much information, if you happen to be in a reading mood someday it is all in detail in the Silmarillion. Sauron is the necromancer, they just didn't know at first that it was him so they called it the necromancer/sorcerer, Gandalf went to the fortress to confirm it. All the languages you hear in these movies are real, Tolkien created them alphabets and all. If you have the mind you can learn to write, read and speak them :D I love that dragons speak in Tolkien's world, it makes them much much more of a character than a beast and they are extremely intelligent, cruel and malicious. Words and names are power in Tolkien's world, that is why Bilbo speaks in riddles and does not give his real name to Smaug, if dragon learns your name, it has the power over you. Smaug, as big as he is, is tiny compared to what the larger dragons were. Ancalagon the Black was so huge that when he was defeated and he fell from the sky he broke an entire mountain range! Can't wait for the last one, you might want to buckle up when you start watching it :D I predict not so small amount of frustration and perhaps a few tears and smiles. Going to be a good ride in any case.
