LOTR part 1 watch-along :)

LOTR part 1 watch-along :)

Comments

I first read the books as a 17 year old in the service and continue to read them at least once a year now that I am 66. I try not to read others' analyses of meanings and go with what it means to me if that makes sense? When Boromir cuts his finger on the sword (Narsil) to me it is a reminder to him, a Lord of Gondor, that Isildur's bloodline is still intact and a King is out there for Gondor. As for the ring, to me it is like this: picture something that can magnify any form of evil in your soul, even the smallest desire for glory or revenge. So, even if you are just close to it, it probes your soul for cracks and once it finds them it uses them against you to bend you to its will. It is like a mirror of Sauron, completely evil as Gandalf stated. Frodo and though most forget, Sam, BOTH were close to the ring though Frodo suffered through contact. If hobbits had been one bit less than the good tilled earth loving peaceful beings they truly were and/or Frodo and Sam had been less than truly great examples of hobbits then evil would have prevailed. Sorry for the long winded note, just finished watching the first half of the first movie again.

When Boromier first meets Aragorn in Rivendell, there's a painting on the wall... Its a painting of Isildur with the broken Narsil. I have 1986 in my head where an artist and/or Tolkien fan made that and put it up on the web (bilboards/websites) back then. The year maybe when I first saw it lol But I know that picture lol

Nvm I was able to figure out this is the extended edition :) I just bought the extended edition and figured it out based on the timing of the video counter lmao

Jason Holt

Just curious if this is the extended version, or the original one. Thanks! :)

Jason Holt

Thank you. I sincerely appreciate it. And I also appreciate your kind response, as opposed to the passive aggressive insult from the other user. I look forward to more reactions.

Please, kindly don't mind him Stef :) After all, according to the dictionary, the word "dork" can - amongst other things - also mean either a vulgar expression for a certain external intromittent (male) organ. It can also mean a stupid and incompetent person. Just to clarify - I am not necessarily implying anything, just kindly giving the dictionary definitions ...

I just reached out to my editor , and we agree that the watch along doesn’t need to be locked when both videos are ready. The reason we split the edited version is to abide with YouTube’s copyright laws , being that the extended videos are near 4 hours long it didn’t seem fair to give you guys a 20 min cut down and ask you to join Patreon to see the entire watch along . We felt it fair to split the content in order to give you a fleshed out edit on YouTube. When we have to split a movie apart because of it run time , we will post watch along together whether it’s 1 or 2 videos since that is access for you as a Patreon member and the same copyright rules do not apply. In the future if you have any concerns, you are more than welcome to express them. We just ask that you have patience as we are just getting into the reaction space and want to make sure we deliver the best experience for everyone.

Ok you should not be splitting one single movie into two parts, and making the first part a normal FULL watchalong, and the second part of the same film an "early access." Your $6 tier says "full watchalong" and says nothing whatsoever about it being tied to Youtube releases. It says FULL watchalong, not HALF watchalong. As a paying customer of a full watchalong tier, I should not have to wait days to finish watching one single movie. I feel like this is very deceptive in the wording of the tiers, and in splitting up a single movie into two separate parts which would cost different amounts to watch in full the same day both were uploaded.

MotoDork

You have access to watch-alongs as they drop on YT. So if you were wanting to watch part 2 three days ago, you wouldn’t have been able to. They are early-access tier droppers

Stef Solari

But if I had tried watching it three days ago when you originally posted it, would I have had to wait three days to finish watching it?

MotoDork

Hi, updating now! Dropped the part 2 YT video earlier today so it should be good to go in a bit :)

Stef Solari

They’re both electrical guitars! I don’t have an amp at the moment so I don’t use them often. And yes, I’m a singer. I play the piano and récord music! And no worries I understand, I will be rewatching the first movie again so I can focus on other things I wasn’t able to do! :)

Stef Solari

Why can I not watch part two? I signed up for full watchalongs.

MotoDork

Forgive me, Stef, however, could I please bother you with a few questions, if you don't mind? If so, feel free to reply, otherwise, you can also simply ignore these, whichever you prefer. Alright, so my first few questions are based on my "wild" assumption that you are indeed a musician (I based this on this very video, and the fact, there are two guitars in the background). How long have you been playing (assuming, I'm right, of course :D)? So, is that bass guitar you have Ibanez? The other guitar clearly has a Stratocaster shape. Fender, or something else? What kind of music do you play? Have you published your playing (even if only audio) anywhere? Also, kindly feel free to share as much details about this (general) subject, as possible. Please, no offense, but one of the main reasons I'm asking this, is your comment on the LOTR soundtrack (or better yet, the lack of it), which did surprise me a bit. Also, as a fellow bass player & solo + rhythm guitar player, I suppose I'm just curious :) Thank you.
