Photography techniqueI shot these with aperture f7.1 to make sure both models are in focus, whilst the background remains sufficiently blurred. In the sun I had to use shutter speed of 1/1000 and ISO125, with one third of a stop under exposure. I kept the same apperture and shutter speed settings through the shoot, and it seems the light was changing due to clouds and in one image the ISO - which was in auto - jumped to 1000. I could - and perhaps should - have reduced the shutter speed to 1/250 which would have got the ISO down to 400 if not lower. In the olden days of film cameras, ISO 1000 would have resulted in grainy images - however modern digital cameras cope much better with high ISO values. So on balance, when outdoors, you can’t keep changing settings to respond to constantly changing light conditions, otherwise you miss the shots and frustrate the models who sit there and wait for you to get it right!
