Poll on Writing Styles

So, if you've been with me that long, I'm sure some people have noticed that I switched up my writing style a bit for both recent books, Alpha Strike Book 3 and We Lease the Kraken Book 2.

Part of this is the change in editing software, but it was also originally done to try and be more descriptive, broaden my narrative vocabulary, and generally make the stories more engaging.

However, over time, I've also gotten multiple complaints from several people that the later chapters are too wordy, use too much descriptive language, or are too flowery.

I can see both sides of the argument, and I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle.

But I figured that at the end of the day, its you all that have to read it.

So I thought, why not just ask?

What do you all think of the change in style? Do you like it better than before?

Do you prefer the old style better?

Or could you not even really tell the difference?

Let know!

This is important feedback and information.

Comments

I think that ar least for AS, the different writing styles had an unintended effect. Old style could be interpreted as a reflection of Alpha's state of mind. The pace feels hurried and chaotic. Alpha is constantly jumping from the pan to the fire and has soul damage. Current style is more stable, deliberate, patient. If I were to choose though, I like the old style better. It fits better with my impression of Alpha's personality.
