Dear VIP Elite or higher tier member,
I just had a red flag experience with a model that I wanted to share with you, as I know that most of you are interested in this topic in working with models.
I am adding a screenshot of our exchange. I think it is self explanatory.
You know who this model is although on this site she has a different name.
The red flag for me in this one is models who not only think their “exclusive page” is more exclusive than the content that photographers pay to create with them but are also prepared to state it to photographers. Do we really want to pay models to create content that’s less exclusive than what they sell on their “exclusive pages”?
Even for a TF shoot this is not appealing to me. I worked with another model - Phi Rose - on a TF basis. She’s keen to do more but I am not, once I realised that on her “exclusive” page she sells much higher levels than what she shoots with photographers. Anyone looking to buy content with Phi, will sensibly look to buy it directly from her. What’s my role in that? In my view, models like that need to be paying photographers to create promotional content for them. If we are paid, the customer can dictate the terms.
In that sense, I respect Sophia a lot. Sophia doesn’t do paid shoots with photographers, she only shoots content with a few photographers on a TF/content shared basis. I happen to be one of them.
The second red flag for me is models who stick “I don’t accept to do videos at any level” on their profile after we agree a shoot with them. Had I seen that on her profile, I would never had offered to shoot with them. In fact a model’s unwillingness to do videos is by itself a red flag for me. In this day and age, with Instagram reels being the way to grow one’s account, an unwillingness to do videos suggests something is seriously wrong with them.
I hope you’ll find my Sunday morning rant helpful!
