Slow Start SaturDAZ

I finished and uploaded this month's Expanimation, and am currently rendering a low light bonus version (I like the way it picked up the highlights).

The other day, I saw a dead pixel on my monitor and thought I finally had an excuse to replace this old Acer G235h. It has a great screen for a low price, but buggy firmware. Unfortunately, the dead pixel was temporary, but I'm still thinking about replacing it in September. The firmware issue involves the controls, preventing switching from the DVI to VGA connection and occasionally remapping the buttons. The power button hasn't worked in years. When it did, it couldn't make up it's mind whether to be on/off or DVI/VGA. I've tried resetting it to factory configuration several times. Accessing certain parts of the settings menu will offset the function of the 5 buttons on the monitor (maybe that's why they never labelled them) and/or disable certain buttons.

I reached out to the manufacturer while it was still under warranty and they wanted me to pay for support, so I just made do using it with the DVI connection and resolved never to buy anything from Acer again. I think I'll go back to ViewSonic or maybe HP.

My favorite monitor is my 40" HiSense (branded as a Sharp) that I use mainly as a TV. I also have a 24" Samsung for my digital audio station because the color fidelity doesn't cut it. My HP monitor flew away on the wings of divorce along with more gear than I care to remember. The Acer has the best picture of what remains, too bad about everything else on it. I'm leaning towards ViewSonic.

I have an Acer, ViewSonic, and HP monitor on my various computers. The HP is my favorite but the ViewSonic is good and was significantly less. I trust the HP to be closer to true color tho. (The Acer is garbage but it was free.)
