Game of Thrones 8x4 FULL Reaction!

Game of Thrones 8x4 FULL Reaction!

With regards to the Jaime plot turn, it helps if you remember the circumstances that lead to his departure. He had just pledged his support to the north and only discovered Cersei's scheme after the fact. He was already pissed that she undermined his vow and plotted with Euron behind his back. On top of that, she then threatened to have him KILLED. It demanded that his character take a dramatic action...and he did. Cersei being killed wasn't at the forefront of his mind. He acted purely out of anger for being betrayed and he wanted to return the favor; with that being said, the scene with Brienne does imply he's leaving her for good to be with Cersei. It's one thing for him to not necessarily wish death upon his sister...it's something else entirely to abruptly dismiss authentic blossoming love in favor of whatever he had with a despicable wretch like Cersei. So ultimately I don't think that was justified...sorry for the late comments btw. I'm only just now getting around to finishing this reaction series.

She hasn't seen either of those shows so maybe delete this lol

Theon and Jaime are like Dexter and Breaking Bad. Both are really great, in the end, one leaves you clapping while the other makes you go "what in the fuck???". Jaime got the Dexter finale.

Hilarious post video reactions. Love it. Any chance we will see drunk Cass one more time?

episodes 1 and 2 are phenomenal. Episode 3 is good but with weak points. Episodes 4-6 are where you can really SEE the difference in the writing. These episodes no longer have the nuance or political intrigue of past seasons. Its all very hamfisted, and none of it holds up to scrutiny.

Your reactions and post-episode comments are very astute. Also your new hair color really stands out against the white shirt background.

We've all had bad habits or addictions at some point in our lives, me personally I don't think it's realistic to overcome such habits overnight or in a couple of days especially when its a habit you've struggled with from a young age.

I feel like the Jamie storyline is one of the biggest criticisms of the final season. They execution was just off.

Quite a few nails were hit on the head in the post-episode discussion. Loved it! Don't hate the train though, he's not responsible for the writing in this episode. One thing you liked which I actively disliked, in fact downright hated, was the conversation between Sansa and The Hound, when she says without Littlefinger and Ramsay and the rest she wouldn't be where she is and stayed a 'little bird'. Infuriating. This reinforces the quite toxic narrative that women can only be strong if they have to go through some trauma first, and never be strong just because they are. Disgusting. There is many other things I hate about this episode, but the list is too long to go through. I think I'm just going to kinda forget. What always puzzles me: why did they bring Drogon to that parlay at the end? Cersei could have easily let those ballistas shoot him, and they all know there is a possibility that she would. Why didn't she, actually? Completely against character. Sansa is basically Littlefinger 2.0 now.

Jaime is like a person addicted to drugs. Cersei is his drug and when he heard she was in danger, he relapsed.

I’m no longer commenting on other people’s opinions, because I respect those and I’m glad we have so much room now for actual discussions. Being devastated by or frustrated about the outcome of an episode still doesn’t make me dislike or even hate it. Sometimes I like those episodes most. Especially when they are on such a high quality level like the entirety of GoT is! And in this case, it just made me think about some things even more... From my point of view, the whole relationship between a codependent Jamie and his emperious sister Cersei is probably the best portrait of a real life „toxic relationship“ that’s ever been displayed on television! As a Psychologist I whitnessed so many cases that went exactly the same or even worse. People give up their own lifes for a toxic partner like Cersei, even after years of threats and psychological torture and even after years of absence. Although it’s sad, Brienne could have done nothing about it! Jamie trying to justify himself and his actions by listing everything bad he already did for Cersei and still trying to save her is EXACTLY what a codependent person like him would do in that moment. That’s the definition of codependency! There’s nothing rational about it, there’s nothing heroic about it. And we don’t all love GoT because it’s all about heroism, we love it, because the emotions and the characters are all so REAL! So for me Jamie’s character development isn’t straight out of the window. I’m actually really impressed and intrigued about it
And by the way... I love your new hair color Cass! :-)

great reaction, great post episode discussion, great hair!

Most underrated Episode of the entire show. Full of golden scenes.

I feel like Jaime went North to die, which he didn't, so he headed back South to his sister. As far as Brienne, Jaime just wanted a win over Tormund.

Don’t worry Cass, you don’t have to apologise for disliking this episode, there are a great deal of us who share in your opinion. This is probably my second or 3rd least favourite episode in the series. Rewatching this now has made me realise how bad Tyrion’s character became after he left in season 4. He is almost unbearable to watch now. Also as the writers David and dan say “Dany kind of forgot about Eurons forces” so the whole Rhaegal/Missandei capture and death is very anticlimactic and very emotionless. It just feels like pieces put in place to make dany explode which is terrible writing.
