Important Patreon Update
Added 2020-09-13 02:44:31 +0000 UTCHey everyone! When I first started my Patreon, I formatted it based off of how I saw other reaction channel's were promoting their Patreon tiers as guidance. I saw that they were promoting "full length reactions" and knew that was something I wanted to do for you guys. I assumed that they were providing the full episode footage with their reactions, however after some further research I've realized that this does not comply with copyright. I found out that Blind Wave, a reaction channel that I look up to, only posts their full length original footage for their Patreon & has their patrons line up their own TV/Movie footage (with a count down of course, to help make sure it's lined up properly).
I just don't feel comfortable with continuing to post my full length reactions with the tv/movie footage and am going to start uploading in the style of Blind Wave; Posting my full original reaction footage and leaving the TV/Movie footage up to you guys to line up. I'm really sorry if this is an inconvenience and completely understand if you don't want to continue to support my Patreon.
Game of Thrones 7x5, Brooklyn Nine-Nine 1x13, and The Witcher 1x2 will be the start of this new format. I will keep my past Patreon videos available through the end of September, but then I will be taking them down just to be safe with copyright compliance.
While this does mean that we're losing a lot of Game of Thrones content (because no, unfortunately I can't re upload as I didn't save my original footage without the show in it), I am excited to announce that my soon-to-be roommate/best friend has zero knowledge on Game of Thrones and I will be uploading Full Patreon-Exclusive Reactions with her starting from Season One.
Again, I am sorry if this is an inconvenience, but it feels like best thing to do. Thank you for understanding and I'll see you guys soon :) Thanks again for all of your support.

2020-09-13 22:11:17 +0000 UTCHBO picks their battles and Youtube is an easy battleground for them since Youtube agreed to implement a claim and strike system that favors large media outlets in exchange for the ability to provide their own streaming services.
2020-09-13 21:04:29 +0000 UTCI don't know why Cass feels like she has to do this. She said Blind Wave does it this new way but I know of other reactors with lots of content who do it the old way. ???

2020-09-13 20:19:00 +0000 UTCI'm sorry, but it will be.

2020-09-13 20:15:01 +0000 UTCThis is not good for me.

2020-09-13 20:11:09 +0000 UTCHey I remember you from Duo Reacts! lol

2020-09-13 19:10:59 +0000 UTCI'm subscribed to RTTV on Patreon and they usually post their full video reactions for another HBO show called Westworld, I dont think HBO care as much if content creators post full reactions on their Patreon.

2020-09-13 19:05:28 +0000 UTCWelp, guess I'll be going back to the YT reactions after this month. I only sign up to the Patreon of reactors who show footage, not showing footage isn't the norm in my fairly considerable experience.

2020-09-13 16:28:41 +0000 UTCAlso why freak out if HBO doesn't even care?

2020-09-13 16:24:15 +0000 UTCI agree with this comment. She should have waited until the copyright holder contacts her and then pleaded ignorance and change it then. That way her patrons would be annoyed with the copyright holder rather than being baffled by her jumping the gun. But I guess she thinks she's doing the right thing. Can't blame her for that.
Anthony
2020-09-13 13:50:28 +0000 UTCAs I understand copyright laws in the USA... the copyright holder (HBO in this case) has to police their own material, so if they haven't notified you to cease and desist then they are allowing you to use it by way of their silence. You are not selling their content, you are selling your reaction to their content and claiming fair use. If you do get a request to cease and desist, you probably wouldn't win a court case, so at that time you would stop and take down your previous content to be in compliance. Just my thoughts, this is not legal advice.
2020-09-13 11:33:58 +0000 UTCI can't see myself bothering to obtain video footage of the show(s) and then sync them. I'll probably just watch your Youtube reactions and be done with it.
Anthony
2020-09-13 09:00:22 +0000 UTCI know some people won't like it but it's OK with me. I watch a lot of reactions this way. As your channel has grown in popularity you have to protect it against potential copyright strikes and legal actions. Maybe there is still a chance you can do something with the old episodes? For example you could blur out the show section of the video, or put a graphic over it.

2020-09-13 05:54:58 +0000 UTCThis is very disappointing. For me, aside from the issues of having to sync my own copy up to the reaction, which at times can be annoying enough to significantly detract from the enjoyment of watching it to the point that I would rather just watch the edited ones on Youtube, the more significant issue is having all of the older reactions gone. I just signed up at the beginning of this month, and hesitated to do so with you so close to the end of GOT, so I really intended on being able to go back to watch the previous episodes' reactions. Without these, not sure it will be worth it for me to continue. This is not an "FU for doing this" kind of thing, I understand your reasoning, but the reality is that I already support a lot of people on Patreon and just not sure I can financially justify continuing if I don't feel like I am getting my full money's worth. But I will continue to be subscribed on YT and watch the edited ones there, if that helps.

2020-09-13 04:41:03 +0000 UTCi'm hope the syncing will not be a problem, bcs you cut some video from lenght reaction also

2020-09-13 04:24:15 +0000 UTCIt's Okay. I actually didn't expect the entire episodes would be embedded in-picture in the first place. Definitely didn't feel the need to complain about that ;)...but I've got an HBO subscription . I can line up the streams.
2020-09-13 04:16:35 +0000 UTCI hope so, for the most part.

2020-09-13 04:03:08 +0000 UTCWell this is very sad indeed. For me at least. Honestly, I don’t like the decision. Mostly because I now have to pirate download the rest of GoT and download your reactions to sync them perfectly to my copy. At the end of the day, I’ll make it work. It’s your channel and your decision is final. I don’t like it but I have to adjust to it...... Like a wise man once told me: it’s better to adjust then to uhhhhhh ummmm...... the hell did he say? Anywho, later Cass, hope you have a great weekend.

2020-09-13 04:00:47 +0000 UTCDisappointing of course but only a small inconvenience to me as I have multiple monitors and will be happy to stay and support. If this is what it takes to keep your Patreon going, it's fine by me.

2020-09-13 03:56:47 +0000 UTCSame syncing is so troublesome and a hassle to deal with. Especially when you have reasons to stop. Too bad :/
KP
2020-09-13 03:47:33 +0000 UTCive never really seen people do it that way but alright lol guess ill dig for episodes online
Sedin Husic
2020-09-13 03:44:59 +0000 UTCIt was watching your YouTube reactions that attracted me to your channel I joined patron to support you the full length videos was just a bonus so whatever you need to do is fine cass I'm not going anywhere having to sync is a small price for your wonderful reactions x
Ian
2020-09-13 03:35:23 +0000 UTCA lot of reactors do keep the full footage and have been totally fine, but yes it's technically illegal (especially because you're charging for it), but unless people start to hate you and start a campaign against you like they did with Suzy Lu, you'll probably still be able to fly under the radar.
Kat
2020-09-13 03:22:47 +0000 UTCI've only ever seen one other reactor do it the way you are describing. And I have seen virtually every reactor out there.
Andrés
2020-09-13 03:16:08 +0000 UTCI honestly became a patron because you actually do the footage with your reactions, i have been patrons of other reactions that don't show the footage as well. Many times i have literally sync the audio with the footage and then literally 30 seconds to a minute later completely out of sync again. I will continue to enjoy your youtube reactions but as for patron GL with everything.
Andrew Polinski
2020-09-13 03:13:13 +0000 UTCJust a quick question does duo reacts have to deal with the same thing? Because im a patreon of them and they have had full episodes awhile now?
Charles Davenport
2020-09-13 03:06:03 +0000 UTCWe don't come here to watch game of thrones, we come here to watch you watch game of thrones, your reactions to the show are why I joined this, you did a mothers day tribute for GOT with season 3 episode 9, which was epic.... was the first video of yours I saw, I remember thinking she has no idea and watched it because I knew it was gonna be good, most will stick around for that reason. keep up the good work.
2020-09-13 03:04:49 +0000 UTCI get it Cass. It's cool.
Matt O'Keefe
2020-09-13 03:02:42 +0000 UTCDoes this mean only full audio reactions?
Derek Gigi
2020-09-13 03:01:05 +0000 UTCDang, I get it. But my pledge was cheaper than Netflix and HBO lol. I knew it was bound to happen. I'll be sticking around though
2020-09-13 02:59:32 +0000 UTCHey Cassie, we watch for you and for your reactions, not for the footage. We have grown quite fond of you, and I doubt you will lose many patrons. Thank you for letting us know, and we look forward to watching the early seasons with you and your new roommate.
2020-09-13 02:56:47 +0000 UTCI think Blind Wave also keeps in the audio along with the time code, I hope you do that as well. leaving in the volume really helps me keeping it in sync, if I ever need to pause it.
