Well this was much better than the first half, starting on 30 June when my divorce decree absolute was issued!
in July the weather in England was hot, most COVID restrictions were off and I was determined to do a beach shoot, so I managed to book the lovely Natasha Oliver for a shoot at Hunstanton beach in Norfolk on what was probably the hottest day of the year, Sunday 17 July. Although we only started shooting at 5pm, the temperature was over 30 degrees Celsius. We got some nice pics but I was not happy with the beach, we didn’t even manage to walk to the sea as our feet got stuck in mud! So a week later, I drove down to Portsmouth to meet Athena Rose, who knew some great beaches down south. I wasn‘t totally persuaded - after all this is England and the sea around it isn’t the Mediterranean! I was so wrong, and I realised that the minute we foot on Hayling island beach. Not only was it sandy - golden sand - but the water was warm. It was a very sheltered beach, and that meant it had its own Mediterranean microclimate. Apparently a lot of artists live on that island and property is very expensive. Anyway the shoot was brilliant and we got some great images out. Most of all I felt that in Athena, Zeus was meeting a long lost daughter. Indeed that was just the beginning, and three months later Athena joined me in Cyprus for another great shoot and more is planned for 2022.
In August I was off to Cyprus, the country where I was born and grew up. I planned to spend a few weeks there so I needed to find some models to shoot. I stumbled across the stunning Anastasia, on Instagram, and we agreed a shoot in Limassol. We got in really well so we kept shooting, I lost count how many shoots we did, but we did quite a few in Ayia Napa, as well as Kourion in Limassol. I also had a shoot with the lovely Mrs Vixen at Aphrodite’s rock. I really enjoyed my time in Cyprus, much more than any time in the last and that was because of all the photo shoots!
