Chapter 32 – A New Era of Cultivation

The fact that mortals without a spiritual root could now cultivate was a groundbreaking masterpiece.

Regardless of how profound the impact would be on the future of the human race, for Lynn Naya alone, it meant that if her cultivation were ever exposed, she wouldn’t be targeted.

This would not only greatly increase her safety, but the increase in mortal cultivators would inevitably lead to the flow of cultivation resources, which were previously controlled by the Dao Palace, into the mortal market.

For the past few years, Lynn Naya’s only sources of cultivation resources were the two storage bags. If there were cultivation resources in the mortal market, she could use her talisman-making skills to get more of them, like spirit stones, pills, and basic materials for making talismans.

“You mean the cultivation method has no drawbacks now?” Lynn Naya asked her dining buddy. If that were true, it would not be an exaggeration to call the cultivator a true genius.

“Not exactly,” the red-robed girl said. “But compared to before, six or seven out of ten people should succeed. And even if they fail, as long as there is a cultivator nearby to protect them with their spiritual energy, they won’t necessarily die.”

“It’s been improved that well?” If that were true, many mortals would be willing to try. “Your senior brother is indeed a genius.”

Lynn Naya was being sincere.

She admitted that her previous impression of a genius was a little rigid. A great person wasn’t just great at cultivation; they were also exceptional in other areas.

“Of course,” the red-robed girl said. Hearing her senior brother being praised, she was even happier than if she had been praised herself. Her eyes and face were full of pride. “My senior brother has an Ice Spirit Constitution. He reached the great perfection of Qi Condensation when he was eleven. My grandmaster once said that his future accomplishments would not stop at Core Formation. A Core Formation True Lord is a rarity in the entire Southern Spirit Continent. He could at least make our Dao Palace prosper for five hundred years…”

The red-robed girl’s voice suddenly stopped.

Those were the things said when the righteous and evil forces were still evenly matched. Now, her grandmaster had already fallen in battle. The Dao Palace was struggling just to survive, let alone prosper.

“Anyway, my senior brother is very powerful. As long as he is here, the Dao Palace won’t fall.”

“I know.” Lynn Naya said. She knew why her mood had suddenly soured.

In the original owner’s memory, the Dao Palace was the number one sect in the Southern Spirit Continent. The sect’s territory covered thousands of kilometers and was surrounded by thirty-six large cities.

While other sects’ Foundation Establishment cultivators were their top combatants, the Dao Palace had them everywhere. It was a time of boundless glory.

But that was all history now. During the war between the righteous and evil, countless Dao Palace disciples were killed or injured. Then, their gates were breached, and they suffered great losses. Most of their high-level cultivators were wiped out, and now only the old, weak, and sick remained.

After witnessing the peak of the Dao Palace and comparing it to its current state, anyone would feel down.

“What’s your senior brother’s cultivation now?” Lynn Naya brought the topic back, deliberately emphasizing the word ‘your’. “I’m very curious. Is it convenient to say?”

“…” The red-robed girl’s expression changed for a moment. She buried her face in her hands and then looked at Lynn Naya. “Have you been suspicious of my identity for a while?”

Lynn Naya was honest. “It would be strange if I weren’t. Who at the foot of the mountain dresses as well as you? I’m not an idiot.”

Then she deliberately added, “I used to think you were a cultivator from the mountain. I was thinking of getting on your good side so I could seek shelter under your great tree. But then you said you were a mortal like us. Are you really not a cultivator from the mountain?”

“I wish I was,” the red-robed girl said, coming clean. “I just had good luck in the lottery of birth. My parents were disciples of the sect, and I’m only able to stay on the mountain as a mortal because of their legacy. Since we’ve spoken this much, let us get acquainted properly. My surname is Yun, my given name is Xian, and my courtesy name is Yehe—taken from the saying about ‘idle clouds and wild cranes.’”

“That’s… a very special name. My name is Lynn Naya, and I don’t have a courtesy name.” The original owner had one, but it wasn’t hers. “Getting back to the main topic, is it convenient to tell me about your senior brother’s cultivation level?” She was truly curious.

Yun Xian’s eyes widened. “I thought my silence was a sign of polite refusal.”

Lynn Naya also widened her eyes. “Is it that much of a secret?”

“It’s not a secret. It’s just that I don’t know.”

“Oh.” Lynn Naya immediately changed the topic. “Then can you tell me about the cultivation method? I’m most interested in that.”

“I thought you could hold it in since you haven’t asked until now,” Yun Xian said, finally looking normal. “The original evil cultivation method required a person to constantly ingest the blood essence of a beast and use its power to make themselves stronger.”

“But the beast blood is violent. If you ingest it directly, you can easily explode. Even if you succeed, your rationality will be eroded by the beast and you will become a monster that only knows how to kill.”

“When my senior brother first encountered the evil cultivator, he had already become a pig-like beast. He would eat anyone he saw, even his fellow evil cultivators.”

“Now, the improved cultivation method also requires beast blood, but instead of ingesting it directly, it uses a spiritual flame and herbs to neutralize the violent nature of the blood. A normal person who takes it won’t lose their mind and become a beast. The drawbacks, besides the high chance of death, are that they also need to take beast cores for a long time.”

“Does ‘a long time’ mean for life?”

“Yes.”

“What happens if you don’t take it?”

“I don’t know.”

“Do you have to take it every day?”

“If you take it every day, a mortal body won’t be able to handle the medicinal power and would likely die. It’ll probably be once a month, but we won’t know for sure until the beast cores are ready.”

“I see… And after taking it, can a person cultivate?” Lynn Naya thought this was the most important question. “When I say cultivate, I mean can they break through to higher grades like the cultivators on the mountain?”

“Taking the beast core is basically borrowing the power of a beast to put it into your body to increase a mortal’s potential. Generally, the stronger the body, the higher the chance of success.”

“After succeeding, you can use a special cultivation method to replenish lost spiritual energy, but you probably can’t break through to a higher grade because normal people don’t have a spiritual root and can’t cultivate on their own.”

“To break through, you have to take a stronger beast core. For example, in the early stage of Qi Condensation, you use a mild low-level beast core. In the middle stage, you would need a stronger one. Oh, and every time you take a new beast core, there’s a chance you might explode.”

“Anyway, it’s very complicated. I only listened to a little bit of it. If you ask me for more details, I won’t be able to answer even if you whipped me.”

“You’ve already told me enough.” This was all firsthand information. “I look forward to us becoming fellow cultivators in the future.”

“No problem. When it’s time for you to take the beast core, I’ll ask my senior brother to protect you!”

Oh, this…

Lynn Naya’s smile froze. “There’s no need to trouble him.”

But the more Yun Xian said, the more Lynn Naya felt that her parents were more than just normal disciples. If they were just normal disciples, Yun Xian’s spiritual artifacts would have been gone a long time ago, not to mention having access to the Dao Palace’s management and decision-making levels, and even being able to ask the sect’s only genius to help.

After finishing the meal, Yun Xian didn’t explicitly tell Lynn Naya not to tell anyone.

Lynn Naya thought for a moment. If it was something so important that not a single word could be leaked, Yun Xian wouldn’t have told her. But since she did and didn’t tell her not to say anything, it was probably a silent permission for her to let her close friends and family know so they could prepare.

Except for a loner, who in this world doesn’t have people they are close to?

So that night, after she finished her body tempering on the mountain, Lynn Naya returned home and took out the body-strengthening technique she had kept at the bottom of her box for a long time and gave it to Scarface Qing and the other three. “Same old rule. Don’t ask. Just do it.”

Since the three families lived together, they ate all their meals together.

There were no rules about not speaking during meals. Most of the time, Lynn Naya learned about the news in the mortal area from this dinner table.

Now, she was subtly telling the four of them what to prepare. “Also, do you still have the pills I told you to get? Eat them. Don’t be stingy, especially if you have internal injuries. Eat a few more until they don’t have any effect.”

Cultivation relied on a strong body. Her cultivation wasn’t smooth when her body was weak. According to what the girl said, the strength of a mortal’s body was linked to their success rate with the beast cores. The stronger the body, the higher the chance of success.

Lynn Naya couldn’t guarantee that all her neighbors would be able to cultivate, but it was always good to prepare in advance.

“Also, I have some contribution points here,” Lynn Naya said, handing her jade token to Scarface Qing.

The jade token contained all her savings, including the money she had unexpectedly made from the farm. After so long, the 500 contribution points were no longer eye-catching. With the money she made from the pharmacy and her monthly salary, she now had over 2,000 contribution points. “Go and exchange all of it for Qi-Blood Pills. The more, the better.”

She wasn’t buying Qi-Blood Pills to hoard them.

The price of this item was not low. Too few people could afford it.

Later, when there were more mortal cultivators, a few dozen contribution points might not be worth mentioning. But at a time when people wanted to buy it but couldn’t afford it, a single Qi-Blood Pills would be a life-saving grace.

Simply put, Lynn Naya was preparing to build her network for the future.

She was currently standing too low and could only see too little. She had too little power and was easily in a passive position. If she had a network she could use, things would be much more convenient for her.

In her past life, not many people made a name for themselves purely on their own strength. Most people who succeeded were those who caught the wind of the times because someone with power had leaked some information.

Now, Yun Xian had given her an opportunity. If she didn’t act, she would have no loss. But if she did, she could live more comfortably. Why wouldn’t she?

Of course, the main reason was that she was too weak and needed to use other methods to increase her ability to handle risk.

“Okay。” Scarface Qing said, without question.

After dinner, Lynn Naya went home to cultivate. The four people left at the dinner table looked at the body-strengthening technique and asked Scarface Qing, “When should we start?”

They weren’t asking if they should do it, but when they should start.

Their last experience told them that listening to Healer Lynn was always the right choice.

“I’ll study this tonight, and we’ll start tomorrow morning.” If anyone believed in Lynn Naya the most among the four, it would be Scarface Qing.

He had become a hall master twenty years ahead of schedule because of Lynn Naya’s key hints. Now, whenever Lynn Naya asked him to do something, he always felt there was a deeper meaning to it. “Seems simple, probably a method for strengthening the body.” But why the sudden need for body training? He really needed to think this through.
