What's coming up // September 2025

September is here! 🍎 This is one of my favorite months - I just love that gentle transition from summer to fall. I can't wait to create art this month! Here's what you can expect from me in September:

This month's tutorial is going to be on avoiding muddy colors! I feel like muddy colors are a common outcome of painting, because we spend a lot of time blending everything together and sometimes lose control over the colors that way. This video will dive into the different causes of muddy colors, and give actionable tips for keeping your color scheme fresh and vibrant - especially for those of you who are using more neutral, realistic color schemes. I just finished brainstorming this video and I will be posting it before the end of this week ✨

My favorite season is almost here, so I'll be painting some fall-themed art this month! I also want to come up with a new character painting idea - it's been too long since I've created one of those. I have some new techniques that I'm excited to try on a bigger painting, so now feels like the right time to dive into that!

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month, we are creating brushstroke master studies together! That means we'll be taking a close look at the brushwork of old masters, and trying to mimic their expressive movements and color use. It's a great way to try out a different painting style, and enrich your knowledge of painting!

You'll get reference images, inspiration, tips, and resources to help you on your way. Check out the challenge here! And if you're participating, don't forget to post your progress in the Discord server!

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to create master studies in the future!
