What's coming up // July 2025

This month started off strong, with the hottest day of the year yesterday! 😅 Fortunately it's going to cool down in the coming days, which means better temperatures for sitting over a blazing cintiq tablet. I'm ready for another month of creating! Here's what you can expect from me in July:

This month's tutorial is going to be on solving problems in your art! I'll be talking about how you can assess whether your drawing is working, and what kind of solutions you can apply - using techniques that I've often used in my own process.

This video will be all about being constructive and proactive in the solutions that you use, so that you don't get stuck in a negative spiral of hating your art! I love this topic because it's about mindset, as well as about workflow and techniques - my favorite mixture of topics. Right now, I'm brainstorming the idea, and will be posting the video at the beginning of next week!

I just returned from a summer trip to Scotland, which means that I need to get back into the flow of drawing after a little break! Sketching always helps with that, and I definitely saw some beautiful things in Scotland that I'd like to try and capture in an environment speedpaint. Here are a few snapshots from the trip:

I'll be creating some rough drawings to get my creative juices flowing, and hopefully come up with a few detailed painting ideas as well! I've got a list of ideas I want to visualize, and more time to draw this month, so I'm excited to get to work on that ✨

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month, we are capturing tension in anatomy together! That's when muscles and tendons are fully tensed, creating a strong sense of energy and intention behind a pose. It's all about conveying strength and intensity - perfect practice for artists like me who prefer to capture floaty and weightless poses!

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to capture tension in anatomy in the future!
