Q&A // April 2025

Here's yesterday's Q&A session for your viewing pleasure! I got a lot of amazing and thought-provoking questions- thanks so much to everyone who contributed! I always love how certain themes keep coming back throughout the session. During this one, it was all about checking in and re-assessing things. Not just in your creative process, but also in your career, mental health, and just life overall!

Some of the other topics covered in this session are:

I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any questions for next month's session, feel free to them in the #ask-loish channel in the discord server or in a comment or DM here on Patreon! I will do my best to answer them in next month’s session ❤

ohhhhh, thanks so much for this tip! it sounds amazing actually. I'll look into it! really appreciate all this info!

Hi Loish! Absolutely alright to ignore this. Writing this two months after this video was posted, so I'm not sure if it's relevant anymore. When you mentioned that you're probably going to need to replace your keyboard in the near future, I wanted to share/recommend a split keyboard. A keyboard that can truly split into two separate pieces and be placed more than an forearm's length away from each other. I did some research on ergonomic keyboards when my wrist pain got incredibly sore and painful; and learned that our hands/wrist are much more natural and comfortable to type with more distance in between. Eventually decided to get a Dygma Raise 2 (no need to get that specific brand/keyboard), and after a year of using it, I can attest that my wrist are in a much better state (than if I were to get a regular keyboard again). I do need to caveat that these are very expensive and can have a slight learning curve. So you may want to take moment to think about it. That said, I do still encourage looking into it (assuming you're still wanting a new keyboard) I could go on, but I think I'll stop here. Thanks for letting me rant!

Barnes&Noble Noble still had the Leyendecker book. It’s one I have always wanted. Thank you for reminding me of his work!✅ More inspiration!

Michael H

ohhh, you won't regret it! his work is amazing and it's especially satisfying to browse through a lot of his work at once.

Loish

Thank you for sharing your influences. (Again 👍🏻). There is a Leyendecker hardcover at my local Barnes & Noble. Going back to purchase it after this video. Have admired his work. I hope it’s still in the store.

Michael H

I always miss these when you have everyone here. Thank you for making them available. Taking notes. Always interesting to me. ☕️👍🏻

Hi My english is not really good so sorry if I make some mistakes. I would love to see a studio tour ! What is important for you to gather in a creativ place, what is your set up to be efficient in the daily Life… What do you like to keep around that helps being inspired … Your Must have materials ! Those type of things! That would be great ! I am Always trying to find balance between a small Space and New medium I want to try. (Would love to try a cintiq 24 but dont have enough Space). Do you have any advice to keep your workspace organised ? Have a nice day 😊

I'm so glad you found it helpful! It's definitely something that will improve over time as you get more comfortable with the tools. but keeping rhythm in mind is super helpful for figuring out what you can troubleshoot and change about your work. thanks so much for submitting this question!

Loish

Thank you for sharing more light on how to use rhythm! It was very helpful and I also felt better hearing that rhythm will become more intuitive with practice. My art looks really stiff even when I am able to do something technically correct and I realized that what I’m lacking is rhythm. And the analogy with music was very useful, too! I have been trying to practice rhythmic shapes that are legato or staccato like in music. I look forward to the next session!

haha no, it was just a joke 😊 it was an excellent question, thanks so much for submitting it!

Loish

Thank you for answering my question! I'm sorry if it sounded like a callout, I didn't mean it like that. I thought you might go back to the previous versions behind the scenes or have a different reason like what you said - showing your process :))
