What's coming up // April 2025

April is here 🌱 This is a time of year that I like to call the fluffening, because all of the trees and plants suddenly become fluffy and green! Of course, I'll be creating another month of content for you this month. Here's what you can expect from me:

 This month's tutorial is going to be on different rendering styles! More specifically, I'll run you through a few different rendering techniques you can use, from fast/simple to more complex. It's a great resource for beginners who are not sure which rendering style is right for them, and also helpful for more experienced artists who just want to test out a few different approaches! I'm editing the tutorial right now, so you can definitely expect it before the end of the week ✨

I've been thinking about creating an oracle deck someday, because I love paintings with open-ended meanings that can be interpreted differently based on your personal experiences in life. I already have a few paintings that would be a good fit for an oracle deck, but I want to make more! So my goal this month is to sit down and generate some new ideas for this. If you have any suggestions, let me know - hearing your ideas always inspires me!

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month, we are studying colorful lighting together! This is a great challenge for practicing lighing and the way that it interacts with the volumes of the face, but also for color - especially bright and bold colors! Check out the challenge here.

As always, you'll get reference images, inspiration, tips, and resources to help you on your way. If you're participating, don't forget to post your progress in the Discord server and check out what other patrons are making!

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to draw lighting studies in the future!

I'm excited to create art this month! The last few months were very busy with a lot of interruptions to my drawing time. Now that things have settled down, I'm excited to draw more!
