Q&A // March 2025

For those who missed it, here's the full March Q&A session! We talked a lot about perfectionism: the different ways it manifests, how we can shift our focus to other things, and how you can set goals to offset the hold that it can have. I think this is such an important topic to talk about and I'm so glad I got to share my thoughts on it!

Some of the other topics covered in this session are:

I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any questions for next month's session, feel free to them in the #ask-loish channel in the discord server or in a comment or DM here on Patreon! I will do my best to answer them in next month’s session ❤

ohh thanks for adding that nuance! I totally get that - doing two things at once can be so chaotic. I also can't take on too much new information when I'm drawing, so I'm similar to you!

Loish

Hii, glad you found my comment helpful and brought it up in the QnA! I did want to say that when I wrote “not always fill the space with tutorials and podcasts,” I actually meant stuff that’s meant to be educational. Probably should’ve written it like that. Like, not trying to do two things at once. I can't really sit in silence—there’s always something on xD. Music, a chill life podcast, story podcasts, or even people drawing. But I did notice that if I try to learn something while drawing, it just makes everything way more complicated. I do wanna add: there are exceptions. Like if I’m drawing a certain subject and I listen to a tutorial about that specific thing, then yeah—it helps a lot. But if it’s just a random tutorial to fill the space, it might actually mess things up. I’m not really learning, and it still takes up head space, you know what I mean? So yeah, just wanted to add that on top of what I said earlier :)

Thanks for submitting your question! It's a common experience for any artist I think. It's all about just knowing when to change course!

Loish

thanks for your kind words - this was a great session! So glad you liked severance too. I feel kinda hollow knowing I have to wait so long for more eps, but I'm glad such great media is being made right now!

Loish

Loved the advice in response to being "over-inspired." Thanks for another great Q&A! Also, fun seeing that my comment made it into the stream. :D Thanks for the highlight! Also also — Severance was a ride! Definitely will miss looking forward to new episodes for a while.

Chris

Thank you, Loish, for the advice you gave me about feeling stuck between too many styles! I've started focusing more on my own learning and growth now, and I'm also really happy to hear you share other things as well.❤️

thanks so much for your kind words! i think you can never truly kick perfectionism but you can choose to make choices based on other "inner voices", so that perfectionism doesn't run your life. i hope some of the resources that I listed help!

Loish

yay! thanks for this Q&A session, now i can watch the first hour that i miss 😅

Hi Loish! I just wanted to say thank you so much for answering my question! I'm really excited to jump into the resources you shared! Perfectionism has felt like an impossible hurdle, but seeing so many people share their experience has made me realize I can truly work on overcoming it. 💖

I'm so happy you enjoyed it Faimano!!

I didn't manage to wake up to watch this session live but I really liked it. It was so natural that sometimes I wanted to respond in the chat thinking it was live 😅 you put words to things that "we know" but that we don't always manage to express and it's very "liberating". I feel understood and remotivated! Thank you ✨
