What's coming up // February 2025

A new month is upon us! Last month was full of unexpected twists and turns, so I'm excited for a fresh start ✨ Here's what you can expect from me this month:

 This month's tutorial is going to be on simple tricks to stylize your studies! This one is going to be especially helpful for those of you who feel like your studies just look like copies of the reference image. I'll give you a list of stylization techniques that you can easily apply to your study to make it more eye-catching, exciting, and unique.

I just finished writing out the notes and will record it soon. You can expect to see it in the feed before the end of the week!

I wasn't as productive as I wanted to be last month, because I came down with a mean cold! I'm going to try to and catch up by making some painting ideas and thumbnails. A lot of my paintings feature people, but not a lot of them feature animals, so I want to create an idea for an animal-themed painting this month! I have some sketches in my sketchbook that I want to add color to in order to test styles for this painting.

I also want to launch a new DTIYS, since it's been a while since we did one of those! Keep an eye out for that 👀

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month, we are making statue studies together! This is a great exercise for studying volume and lighting, and also for better understanding the incredible artistry that went into these sculptures.

You'll get reference images, inspiration, tips, and resources to help you on your way. Check out the challenge here! And if you're participating, don't forget to post your progress in the Discord server!

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to make statue studies in the future!

It's gonna be a busy month for me, because I probably have to move to a new studio space way sooner than expected. Fortunately I have a new space lined up and I'm very excited to turn it into a cozy spot to draw and make videos for you!
