What I created this month // December 2024

We are in the final hours of 2024! I can't believe yet another year has passed. Even though there were a lot of ups and downs, I'm feeling very grateful - especially for your support! Here's an overview of everything I created in this final month of the year ✨

This month's tutorial was on stylizing faces! More specifically, it was about which tips and techniques helped me to overcome specific challenges that come up when drawing faces in a stylized way. I talk about how to construct a head, place the features, add details that don't weigh the drawing down, and take a trial-and-error approach to getting the end result that I want! This month's challenge was on drawing smoke and fire! It was all about capturing the energy and intensity of these powerful elements. I had a lot of fun drawing different types of smoke and fire! Here's what I created:

For next month's challenge, we'll be studying subsurface scattering - a super fascinating lighting effect that is really interesting to paint! If you're not yet a flame member, be sure to upgrade your tier to access the challenge - all information will be posted on the 1st!

There's a clear theme to the art that I made this month: Arcane! I binged season 2 at the end of last month, so this was bound to happen. I made some Jinx fanart, and also jumped on the opportunity to create Viktor and Jayce artwork when I was asked to create it for Ectasy in the Secret Santa gift exchange event in the discord server!

We also did a little gift exchange in the discord moderator team, and my lovely long-time mod Sabina requested artwork with magpies! I love these clever and expressive birds, so I was all too happy to create this artwork for her.

This month, I shared the full process of my most recent painting: Glare! Making a detailed painting presents a lot of unique challenges, so I thought this one would be interesting to share with you. I split it into three parts (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3) and included information about each different stage of the drawing process.

 This month's session covered a lot of fun topics! We went on a nostalgia trip when we talked about oekaki boards and holiday traditions, but we also talked about challenges like tendonitis, feeling unable to draw after a long break, and the downsides of social media. Watch the full session here!

It's the most festive time of year, especially in the discord server! This month, we shared our artwork for the Secret Santa gift exchange. It was so heartwarming and fun to see what you all made!
