UPDATE // subscribing through the Patreon app
Added 2024-11-01 10:44:43 +0000 UTCHello lovely patrons! As you may know, Patreon is not only a website but also an iOS app that you can use on your iPhone. You can subscribe to my Patreon tiers directly through this app - but recenly, Apple has decided to take 30% of the membership costs. That's a pretty big chunk!
This doesn't affect those who are already subscribed - so don't worry if you're already a Spark or Flame member!
However, it does affect new members - patrons who subscribe in the future.
Because of the App store fee, subscribing to my Patreon through the iOS app is more expensive - to make up for those extra costs. But there's a simple workaround: you can just subscribe through the website, outside of the app! You can even do this on your phone: just go to Patreon.com with your phone browser and subscribe there. You can also just sign up on a desktop. That way you won't be charged extra and you get the exact same content and experience!

I don't understand why they decided to go apply this new fee but thankfully i subscribed through web π«‘π©΅

2024-11-01 18:34:54 +0000 UTCI think you could check by going to the app store, going to your own account, and checking your 'subscriptions' there. if patreon isn't listed, you probably signed up through web! I can double-check later though - right now there's no way for me to tell, but when the changes are implemented I'll be able to to see on my end how a patron signed up.
