We are a couple days into my favorite month of the year! I think that's because it's my birthday on October 11th 🤭 I'm looking forward to creating another month of art content for you! Here's what you can expect from me this month as a patron:

This month's tutorial is going to be on creating emotive art! I'll be talking about different ways that you can make the focus of your art emotional, rather than just a literal portrayal of something. I also want to talk about making more room for intuition in your workflow. I have so many ideas and I can't wait to share them with you in this month's video! I am currently editing it and expect to post it before the end of the week.

My latest tutorial is always available to Spark members, which means you can get it for just $5! After that, it goes to the backlog - which means you need to be a Flame member to access it. I didn't get around to generating new painting ideas last month, so that's definitely something I want to make time for in October - if my schedule allows, because it's gonna be a busy month for me! I also really want to make some cute halloween themed art and maybe add color to some of my sketches from last month.

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month we'll be making expressive cat studies together! Cats are one of my favorite animals to draw because they can have such expressive poses. They're also very compatible with halloween themed art 👀 I think I'll be focusing on drawing black cats, but you can choose from a wide variety of reference images for this challenge!

You'll get reference images, inspiration, tips, and resources to help you on your way. Check out the challenge here! And if you're participating, don't forget to post your art in the Discord server!
I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to draw cat sketches in the future!

I'm so happy my favorite month is here! And I'm also really looking forward to Lightbox Expo at the end of this month. I've got my fingers crossed that my immune system holds up this year - last year I had to cancel right before leaving because I had come down with a bad flu, so let's hope I can make it this time!
