What's coming up // September 2024

September is upon us at last! Here's what you can expect from me this month as a patron:

As always, I'll be making a tutorial video this month! It's going to be on stylizing anatomy. I got a lot of questions about this and I've been brainstorming the tutorial today! I've got a lot of ideas on how I can demonstrate my process for how I stylize anatomy, and also give tips on how to make that process your own.

As always, the tutorial will come with a detailed cheat sheet that runs you through all of the essential information from the video, and you'll receive a google drive link at the end of the month so that you have a local copy of the video and subtitle file.

My latest tutorial is always available to Spark members, which means you can get it for just $5! After that, it goes to the backlog - which means you need to be a Flame member to access it. I'll also be making art - my main purpose of setting up this patreon! This month I'll probably be making some fall-themed drawings, and I also want to generate some new painting ideas. I'll also be kicking off my creative flow with a sketch session because it's been a while since I last did that!

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

Of course there's a new monthly challenge! It's on studying glossy surfaces, which can be a really fun exercise to practice some good painting techniques. You get reference images, inspiration, tips, and resources to help you on your way. Check out the challenge here! And if you're participating, don't forget to post your art in the Discord server!

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to draw glossy surfaces in the future!

I'm so excited to get to work on these things! I'm also looking forward to a short trip into nature in a few weeks - just a little break that I always like to take this time of year! I'll also be going to Playgrounds In Motion - just as a visitor this time. I'll be there on Friday the 20th! Will you be there too?
