This month’s challenge for flame members was on studying water surfaces! Exercises like these are always a great way to discover new techniques, since it's challenging to draw such a dynamic surface with so much fine detail. I decided to do some studies of water splashes, as well as a speedpaint of a summery watery scene! I found these very refreshing to do - especially with these warm temperatures!
Flame members also get the full process videos, plus a resource that talks you through my process and explains my creative choices in making these studies. It also discusses common mistakes and gives some tips! Those will be posted in a minute.
If you want to participate next month, I’ll be posting next month’s challenge on the 1st ~ just like last month’s challenge, it will include:
Tips and suggestions
Reference images
Inspiration images
A list of resources to help you complete the challenge
A bonus challenge for those who want to invest more time
If you want to participate and you’re not yet a flame member, be sure to upgrade your membership to get access to the challenge! New challenges get posted on the 1st of every month. For now, I hope you like these studies✨
