The May tutorial is here! This one is about using lighting as a design tool. By that, I mean that you use lighting in a way that serves your own creative goals, rather than feeling like you have to capture it accurately! It's a more flexible approach that is all about letting go and just doing whatever feels right to you.
The main brushes I use in this video are:
The hard round brush I used come from my own free brushset.
The MaCaLabs HB Pencil brush to sketch.
Here are some additional tutorials which might be helpful:
Choosing colors: This tutorial shows you how I build up a color scheme, especially with regards to highlight and shadow colors.
Overlapping shapes & foreshortening: Volumes play a huge role in how I approach lighting. This tutorial talks about how I build volume in my art.
Simple tricks for lighting & mood: This tutorial shows you some interesting shortcuts and techniques to quickly and efficiently capture lighting.
As always, here's a cheat sheet with the most essential information about this tutorial. There's also a PDF version with clickable links at the bottom of this post.

Here is the end result of the demonstrations side-by-side:

I hope you enjoy this tutorial! The subtitled version is coming up in just a minute! ❤
