Now that we got that out of the way, here's a short overview of how April has been for me!

PLAYGROUNDS: THE ART DEPARTMENT

Last year I wasn’t able to make it to Playgrounds: The Art Department in Eindhoven, but this year I went and finally got to make up for last year! I had the most amazing time there and also met some of you, which was awesome! I did a panel in which I talked about the messier sides of having an art career together with Iris Compiet and Karla Ortiz. I also signed some books, and hung out with one of my fabulous discord mods, Tijl! Here are some pictures from the event:

I also hope to be at the upcoming edition in Berlin, which is on 25-26 May. Maybe I will see some of you there :) Let me know if you plan to attend!

BACK TO THE FUNDAMENTALS

I’ve really been enjoying doing anatomy studies lately. It’s definitely where it all started for me and it’s something I always cycle back to. I feel a strong urge to brush up on my anatomy skills but also to find more emotive and poetic ways to portray people. I don't just want to convey anatomy accurately - I want to show humanity and vulnarability in the artwork. I definitely have a lot of painting ideas in the works too, which you’ll be seeing more of in the coming months! But for now it’s definitely felt good to focus on anatomy again and reconnect with that side of my artistic practice. What have you been drawing lately?
