UPDATE // spring is almost here!
Added 2024-02-29 10:00:05 +0000 UTCI feel like spring is coming early here in the Netherlands. I've already spotted so many buds and flowers, and heard a lot of birds singing! It's been rainy though, so I haven't been able to enjoy it as much. We're getting more sun soon so next month I'll be outside enjoying one of the most beautiful seasons of the year!
Here's a little review of how this month has gone for me:
CHAOS
This month started out quite chaotic! My dear grandma passed away which meant that a lot of time had to be set aside for the funeral and family time. Thank you to everyone who sent me such kind condolences! My grandma was 94 and had lived a long and happy life. She had alzheimers and was slowly fading away for a number of years. She was a sweet and joyful person until the very end and she will be hugely missed, but it was just her time. Her funeral was really beautiful and it was really nice to have the time to reminisce with family. Unfortunately there was a brutal flu virus going around at the same time and I came down with it right after the funeral. It was the most intense flu I’ve ever had! I feel a lot better now but it took a while for me to be fully up and running again. Even though I was able to do the patreon tasks, it all got posted a bit later this month. I’m so grateful that everyone here is so understanding and supportive ❤ Again, thanks to everyone who sent me kind messages, it really means a lot to me!
SKETCHING
I’ve been spending a little more time in my sketchbook again. I go through phases where I sketch a lot less and suddenly I realize I haven’t touched it in weeks! It feels good to sketch because I can draw the most random things and I’m much more forgiving towards my own mistakes. And usually some ideas come up for paintings, although sometimes I don’t have any and that’s okay too. There’s something about being away from a screen that makes ideas flow much more naturally and organically. So I will definitely be doing the same next month! How about you - have you been sketching lately?
As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

2024-02-29 16:51:50 +0000 UTCMy condolences once again. We've been getting some crazy weather here, a couple days ago it was really warm, and today we have snow lol. As for sketching, I really want to do more. I keep having the mind set of 'If I sketch something it needs to be a finished painting!' lol. I need to stop that already!

2024-02-29 15:36:09 +0000 UTCI'm so sorry for your loss, even though a loved one has lived a long life, their loss is still acutely felt 🫂 Glad that you've recovered from that awful flu (I also caught something like it, knocked me down like I was nothing lol) and that you're ready to enjoy art and spring 💖

2024-02-29 11:48:37 +0000 UTCthanks so much Bea! yes, sketching is always some thing that I get into more when I'm hanging around the house and just need a low intensity art activity to do. Whenever I do it, it's always a reminder of how enjoyable it is! I am feeling a lot better now, I hope you recover too! Thanks so much for your kind words!

2024-02-29 11:47:39 +0000 UTCDear Loish, I'm sorry to hear that your grandma passed away, it is always a difficult moment, but it is comforting to know that she lived long and had a happy life. You were very fortunate to have her until now. I hope that the good memories stay with you forever. Also sorry to hear that you were so sick, but nice that you started sketching, maybe because of that? I was also sick and also took the time to sketch from my sick bed (the couch). I hope you fully recover and can enjoy the spring! Looking forward to learning more about your procces. Best, Bea

I have been sketching lately, I'm determined to complete a sketchbook for once 😂 but it is also fun to just sketch, practice new things and see what random things I come up with along the way
