EARLY ACCESS // zoo sketches
Added 2024-01-12 13:32:04 +0000 UTCI started off the year by jumping out of my comfort zone! I met up with a group of fellow artists and we went to the zoo to draw the animals from life. Every time I do this, it’s an extremely frustrating experience because it’s so hard to capture animals to begin with, but even harder when they are constantly moving! Despite the frustration, I always think this is a worthwhile exercise because it challenges me to explore new shapes and find creative ways to capture what I see. I also found some older sketches in the book that I never posted, so I included those in the post as well!
I plan to do more sessions like these this year, because I want to get better at drawing spontaneously and outside of my comfort zone. Do you have any art goals for this year?

I can recommend just bringing a sketchbook around with you! You might find yourself grabbing it in a random moment of inspiration.

To just draw illustrations rather than obsessively watch tutorials to improve while never actually drawing for myself - did this all of last year and burnt out fairly quickly lol
