Another great tutorial! A light bulb went on when I realized that you treat many subjects with a front lighting scenario to maximize the appearance of depth. I'm so used to drawing things lit from more above that I love the idea of stepping away from realism to take more control of how I want things to look. Thanks Lois!

Learning this much for $10 is more useful and informative then the thousands of dollars I spent in my life drawing class

Perspective always freaks me out so much haha. But seeing it broken down in this way really helps a lot! Thank you so much for the insight :)

thank you! and yes, letting myself choose whatever lighting works for the drawing was very freeing for me. i think lighting is such a complex topic that my brain just refuses to really process it so i just do whatever with it in my art :')

Great stuff. Your art is what drew me (npi) but I gotta say you are fantastic at explaining it, even with struggling to share what's in your head or finding the right words. :) I, too, ^ have enjoyed observing your front light approach. It was interesting to see your approach on the cat even though actual lighting was the exact opposite. Would love to see your version of actual lighting side by side. Thank you!

I found it super interesting because this topic is complex for me, I'm going to practice it. Thank you so much!
Idea for possible tutorial: the same character in different stages. Child, adolescent, adult and in his old age. It helps me to understand what resources I can use at each stage of the character and not lose their traits. I hope you understand, I do not speak English. I'm sorry

I don't normally comment but I just had to say that the just off hand comment about how you use lighting from the front in most of your art just completely blew my mind. I just never considered it and realizing that was just something I could actively choose to do as silly as that may sound
