EARLY ACCESS // face studies

Some portrait studies! With these I wanted to push myself to capture more planes / details of the face than I normally do. I’m used to drawing smoother skin and putting less focus on all the different textures and lines on the face, so taking this approach requires me to push past my comfort zone a bit. I found it really fun to do though! Might do more portraits like these soon.

haha a lot of folks mentioned spiderman for this one! saying it looks like tom holland and tobey maguire! it's a coincidence but i'm definitely okay with the comparison.

same here, it's just not firmly in my memory yet! I need reference to get a sense of it. thanks for the kind words!

Very nice, I am enjoying the stuble hue changes in the planes. I struggle with remembering where the planes are at all times, especially when I have to do lighting stuff. This is very nice

Colors and rendering remind of Dishonored games. I friggin love this style.

hey emilia! yes I definitely use references, especially when I'm doing exercsies to push beyond my comfort zone. I just need more visual input when doing that!

Loish

thank you! I used some references from pinterest and google. i struggle with pinterest too, the images sometimes seem overly perfect or glossy in a way. the focus is very much on beauty there and sometimes i want more authenticity!

Oh wow! I'm not sure what photos you used to study from, but you seemed to have captured the details so well! I need to expand my reference aside from Adorka Stock and Pinterest haha.

these are so pretty oomgg! How do you know exactly where to add the shadows/shapes, do you use any references?

Emilia

Really love these, the desaturated hues, angles & shapes… feels really raw & edgy, suits the subjects & a new perspective.
