EARLY ACCESS // zoo sketches
Added 2022-06-06 09:00:03 +0000 UTCHere’s some stuff that’s far outside of my comfort zone! Together with some fellow art friends, we went to the zoo and drew some of the animals from life there. I totally cheated with these sketches, though - I drew the initial shapes and forms from life, but then later when we were having lunch, I looked up photos of the animals and filled in the details from reference. The fish and the bottom left sketches of the chimpanzees were fully drawn from life, however! These were a bit more slow-moving which made it easier for me to capture them.
Fun fact: the large fish that I drew is a pacu fish, which have weirdly human teeth. It’s actually pretty terrifying to see :’) Don’t google it!

Yeah, I read all three and each one is so different in style. I definitely felt much more drawn into the first one because it felt so huge and otherworldly and fascinating. Then the second I found it hard because it felt the exact opposite: claustrophobic and bureaucratic and just eugh everything I think working in an office might feel like! Then the third is more open again - it's closer to the first but less intense, it feels more traditional in terms of writing style and is a smoother read (it was to me anyway!).
