UPDATE // Easter season is coming!

Another month has passed! Here in the Netherlands, we've had a lot of sun, and the green buds are blossoming into beautiful fresh leaves. There are some fluffy ducklings wandering around too! I always feel so energized around this time of year! Here's how the past month has gone for me:

ALMOST DONE WITH THE HOUSE

I’ve been setting aside a bit of time each week to work on our house, and we are almost done with the tasks we set out to do in January! This month, we finally did the thing that was weighing on me the most: we tiled our kitchen!

I can’t believe that we spent almost THREE YEARS with just a bare concrete wall as our backsplash. Now we finally have some nice green tiles and some wooden shelves at the top too. I think this will be the last of my house updates, since we are now mostly finished! Just in time for our three year anniversary of living here, haha ^^; Can't believe it all took is so long. Here are some pics of how it turned out:

BACK TO STYLIZING

In the past months, I’ve been focusing a lot on doing studies from reference, and I had kind of lost touch with the stylized stuff that I am known for creating. I was looking at some of my older art and realized that I really missed drawing random characters off the top of my head and giving them my own twist. So I did a series of portraits with the aim to stylize them a bit more, and although I didn’t like the results at first, I managed to find a good creative flow for portraits eventually. It feels good to reconnect with that again!

SKETCHBOOK

I’ve been diving back into sketching with my pencil in my sketchbook and it feels so good! I go through phases with my sketchbook. Sometimes I don’t draw in it for months, and sometimes I use it quite intensively. I’ve noticed that I’m always much more creative and motivated when I’m sketching regularly, so I want to keep doing what I’ve been doing this month and really enjoy the process of drawing freely. I got myself some softer lead so that it feels less laborious and is easier to smudge, and it’s been lovely! Expect more sketches to be posted next month!

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

glad I'm not the only one! I've learned from getting our house that the most important thing is to keep some momentum going. not everything has to happen at once, but just regularly keeping up with stuff is helpful. and about the weather... the perfect sunny spring weather stopped yesterday and we had snow this morning too! this season is all over the place hahaha.

The tile looks amazing! I love the color. And getting your house the way you want it within three years is not bad at all! My sister in law is almost done with hers and it took her and her husband 15! We became first time home owners ourselves last year and there's a ton we want to do, put in hard wood flooring, painting, fencing, etc. It'll take a while, but it'll be worth it :). I'm also kinda jealous you're seeing clear signs of spring, we're still getting snow here in Wisconsin!
