Hey lovely patrons! As promised, I've uploaded a version of this tutorial with the subtitles baked in to the video. Please do check out the description of the other tutorial post for details about the brushes, reference, etc! Enjoy!

I can't wait to apply these concepts in my art, thank you very much!

Vakuu Void

Yes! It’s so satisfying.

Martha Balaile

happy to hear that! i feel like going back to old work and tackling it with new skills is a great way to appreciate your improvement and see how far you've come!

Loish

I loved this tutorial! It was really easy to understand and follow along. The shapes are a light bulb moment. I would get frustrated with a drawing and give up but recently I’ve been enjoying going back and improving art that i had given up on. Thank you Loish!

Martha Balaile

so happy you found it helpful matthew!

Loish

I’ve practiced some of the techniques that you’ve demonstrated in this video and I feel like it’s opened up some interesting ideas as to how I draw my figures and scenes, and even ideas for new projects that I’d like to complete! Thank you for sharing this video!

Wishing on the stars for you! 🙏🌠🧁 Thanks for the great video. I love the description of that non-conscious space where you do feel good things. Such a nice place!

Haylee

I'm envious! hope to see his art in real life someday.

Loish

Love that my two favorite artists: Mucha and Leyendecker are mentioned in the first 10 minutes. There was a traveling Leyendecker exhibit when I was in school and I went back at least 10x to just admire those brush strokes in person.

Haylee

thanks so much!

By far, my most favorite video. Your way of explaining and communicating (what I feel is) a fairly complex idea is so well done and satisfying. Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into making these tutorials.

Yurika

i loved this tutorial!!!! Such complex concepts explained in such an amazing manner <3

sheela sarang

glad you enjoyed it kat!

Finally got a chance to watch this one :) This was so interesting! I never really paid close attention to shape language before, but the shapes that you use are definitely what make your pieces so distinctive. I may study my own art and discover what shapes I gravitate towards as well. Super cool!

Kat Craig

thanks so much!!

Loish

I think this one is my favorite tutorial video now because of how I use these shapes cause I studied a lot from your art, now u turned up explained them. I do not even think about it too when I use these shapes. Mind blowing, keep going 😊✨

Sorry XD, I wanted to make sure you answered my question because I really wanted and advice from you.

Fantastic tutorial Loish and so useful, thank you!! I have a question - how do you adapt your shape process when using a "traditional" medium like gouache or markers? Do you find you have to plan shapes because they are harder to correct? Thank you again! :)

Robyn Jay

thanks so much for the kind words! as your your question, here are the settings that I have - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k0D7a4bvw4oHpL3g1YUzsYJ7B_Wwt4Ki/view?usp=sharing - and I don't know if this is of any help, but I access this brush from the brush presets panel rather than the brushes panel, so that all of the settings are correct. I hope this helps!

Loish

glad you like them stephanie!

Loish

hey! i answered your question through DM but I'll put it again here: I generally use about A3 size, 300DPI!

Loish

When drawing a full body character, what default dimensions you use on Photoshop?

rickless

I feel like a real Art student with your tutorials. There is so much depth and knowledge in them! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us 😇

Stephanie

Odd question but could you possible take some screen shots of the settings on the Macalabs brush. I purchased it recently but it seems to be pretty noticeably different from the brush you are using and I am just trying to figure out how to fix the settings on my pen/PS/the brush. Unrelated to the question, I just wanted to say that I am a hobbyist who has been trying for years to turn my pencil and paper drawing skills into something that looked good in digital, and your tutorials are the first (and only) thing I have found that really worked for me, I am finally able to make digital art that I am happy with! Thank you so much!

KS Ashton

So helpful. Thank you very much!

Sabrina Epifani

Absolutely! 😊

Loish

Silly question. Are we allowed to follow along with tutorials?
