WIPS // winter painting ideas
Added 2022-01-28 09:01:01 +0000 UTCI was out of ideas for new digital paintings, so I sat down to conceptualize a few new ones! I like to sit down and brainstorm a few different ones in one sitting, so that I have them on hand to finalize at a later point. Which one should I finish first?

2022-01-28 16:47:49 +0000 UTCThe combination of golden yellow over the gray tones has somehow achieved a cold yellow and I think that’s absolutely worth exploring. If there were a way to combine the other two THAT would be very exciting, as the ice-cloud-skating is very grand and adventurous, while the waterfall is intimate and relaxing. Perhaps the characters from the ice skating are present in both somehow?

2022-01-28 10:59:34 +0000 UTCThe first one feels like it would be a challenge, it feels dark and lower key than you typically do. So I’d be quite interested to see how it turns out! The second feels like the most typical for you out of this set, I think you have multiple pieces with a similar pose and similar lighting. But this one feels… smoky? A kind of dark queen vibe maybe? Three feels like it’s snuggling in with several recent pieces, kind of staking out a distinctively Lois sort of environmental vibe. Four is SO GLOWY I feel very drawn to it. But none of these are things where I’d be sad to see them finished.

2022-01-28 09:34:22 +0000 UTCthank you! when I set my mind to it, I can usually generate quite a lot of ideas in a short time. but when I'm busy with other things, I find it difficult to come up with new stuff. that's why I'm spending a lot of time doing focused idea generation sessions, so that I can just finish & render them later on without having to think too much!
